"Boring..."
A common statement from the teen as she walked slowly through the incoming crowds of people. Everyone appeared to be set on going somewhere, but then, that's how it always is in this city. But not her, unfortunately. Brittany's life rarely had any excitement or twist, unless you actually counted the minor events within the walls of the school. Other than that, her life was a drag, a constant renewal of the same routine.
It wasn't as though she disliked her life, it was only that she wanted there to be more to it. Since her father was always busy, her life was pretty much left in her mother's hands, meaning that she was trapped in a cycle of studying, piano practice, and then bed. She was 15 years old and she was going to bed around 8. The girl was officially trapped.
Looking up towards the sky, she knew that there had to be more to her life than this. If so, then why wasn't she doing anything to change it? God, how she wanted to change it...but how? There had to be a way...
Moving from outside the large body of people rushing in one direction, the school girl placed her back against the side of a building, letting out another sigh as she reached into her bag to pull out her cell phone. "Mom's gonna be calling soon...like always.."
Her tone was almost one of disgust, but it was not to be intended for her mother, only towards the fact that she would be forced to play that blasted piano just as soon as she got into the apartment.
The thought of that grand piano somewhat made her sick, maybe due to the fact that she had been playing it for so long. In any case, it wasn't exactly a skill that she wanted , she would rather just continue her kendo lessons, at least they provided some entertainment for her.
Then, her thoughts were interrupted by a small flicker of light. Brittany looked away from her phone, scaning the area around her. There wasn't anything around to have produced it, maybe it was just some tourist flashing pictures somewhere...
Another flash caught her eye, this time she knew that there was something wrong. As the girl looked around, she noticed the alley right next to her, why hadn't she seen it there before? In any case, there it was. Looking closer inside, the teen couldn't see anyway that the light could have come from here. All that collected in that pathway was trash, and the foul smell of wet cat.
"Maybe....I was seeing things??"
Brittany turned her head back towards the main street, preparing to continue on home, in till her head a soft tone. It was almost like the tone that came when you turned on an old TV set, yet this one grew louder and louder by the second. Taking the risk of getting dirty, the girl dashed into the alley, doing her best to keep up with the noise.
Turning down one path, and then another, soon the light outside of the alley grew darker. Brittany knew that she should turn back, but the thrill of actually having found something was too much for her. Her hand gripped tightly to her bag strap as she navigated further into the unknown alley way. Soon enough though, she found herself confronted with a large brick wall.
"Dead end....Should have known...", the girl whispered as she looked around for anything that seemed strange, though in her heart, she was glad that there wasn't anything. Running into an alley like that was so reckless, what if something had happened?
In any case, this just proved that she would look for anything to bring some thrill to her dull life, even search through dirty, smelly pathways.
A calm expression lingered on her face as she turned herself around and began to slowly walk back towards the open.
