- Roger that chief! Arming missiles! - the tylomon replied cheerfully, upon receiving target confirmation. Catapults, really? Well, it was siege equipment after all, but where would goblimons get it from? Somebody must have told them how to build these complex siege engines. Though his usual aiming at long range was poor, but the tylomon tried his best to aim true, and prepared to fire.
- Eat this! - an exclamation came as the shark unleashed a full-scale barrage of missiles aiming at the mark the angel told him, and hoped that the target would be covered with a rain of projectiles in full, that no one would escape and this terrorizing of the city would stop. The scale of the barrage was similar to that he used to scatter goblimons at the Battle of the Dino Valley.
- Whew... - the shark sighed out heavily, that barrage cost him some energy, firing that much missiles at an instant was very difficult even for him. - Did I hit 'em?

The goblimon were pretty confident they could shoot at the city all they want, and not get punished for it in any way possible. Fools were they, for they were completely unprepared for the rain of missiles the tylomon unleashed upon them. The projectiles fell down from the skies, exploding and showering the enemy positions with shrapnel. That caused great panic among the enemy artillerymen.
- Ahh! We're under attack! Retreat! Retreat! - they left the positions, fleeing for shelter. Half of them would not be able to do so however - dying or wounded, they were lying on the shelled ground. Soon, however, a few "sanitary" digimon appeared, to drag those to whatever was a hospital, which was a lovely practice the enemy general introduced - to tend to the wounded. Demons did not understand, so they were not subjugated to such, but the small, puny and weak goblimons appreciated the care.
The machines suffered lesser damage, however. The missiles hit only a few directly, but most survived, being only scratched or moderately damaged. The tylomon did not have incendiary missiles to set them on fire, and his accuracy was the reason these were not wiped out quite completely...

"There were several casualties in the goblimon ranks, but most of the catapults survived"
Well, that was better than nothing, at least the goblimons were now in panic and while they still were functional, the damage the catapults sustained would force the surviving goblimons to recalibrate and repair them quickly.
"That's enough, now we have to wipe out the remaining goblimons before they can fix their machines. Somebody give me a bow and incendiary arrows or a torch, we cannot let those siege engines continue existing!"
The darcmon tried to rally what few angels still lingered in the area to join her into the mission of destroying for good those infernal machines; once they were down the enemy would have a hard time laying siege without risking themselves against direct retaliation, and knowing how "skilled" goblimons were fixing equipment more complex than a wooden club, it would take them a long time before they could fix the damaged catapults, let alone create new ones

The defenders were successful in stopping the barrage from continuing their siege, this was true, but only for a very short while. After all, they were firing from behind the enemy defensive line, and any attempt to get to them for a more direct attack would mean encountering a horde of flying demons who were the air cover for the goblimons. And those were slowly returning to man their machines again. But that was not all...
Several golemons appeared where the catapults were placed soon after the barrage ended. At first one would confuse them for ones who were to man the mechanisms, but their role here was much, much more than that. Instead of manning the contraptions, stone digimon started picking up the boulders with their hands and hurling them into air better than any machine would. And because of their natural resistance to just about any attack, it would be nigh impossible to destroy them.
So the city enjoyed the rebreather only for a short while. Soon the accursed stones started hitting the houses once again, and as the goblimon returned to their positions, the barrage continued with previous strength...

"Enemy reinforcements appeared, don't let them continue the siege!"
The courageous angel digimon was not amused by the sudden arrival of several golemons appearing all around the city, easily replacing the catapults and making an even better job than them. It was suspicious how the demon army had within their ranks goblimons, orgremons, barricades, trenches and catapults, and now golemons and in good numbers and clearly something or somebody was helping them, by no means this siege should be so brutally effective and most of those troops seemed familiar ....
"Now that I think about it, several of those non demon troops are the same we fought in Dino valley ... we must capture whoever is behind this siege"
Something else was involved in this insane siege and it was her duty to discover what was going on, it was highly likely those were the remnants of the paildramon's army, but why would they be here? That only gave more proof to her theory of a superpower being behind everything, and said power ordered the remnants to join this demon army that was on cahoots the with the unknown warmonger digimon.
"Hope dies last brave soldiers, let's destroy every single golemon and catapult before the city falls!"
And so, she directly flew at high speed towards the golemons. She could've called tylo to go along her, but he had the very important duty of stopping the large boulders that menaced with destroying the city. Even if the golemon were incredibly tough, she was going to find a way to deal with them and take out the catapults at the same time.

- Idiots die first, however. - a harsh and stern voice came from above, as Ciel's path was blocked midway by a very, very large blade, the sive of her body, like a barrier, and sound of many wings were heard. It was the Slashangemon, who stopped her from venturing in a suicidal attack with his hand-sword-thingy, and there were several angemon behind him as well. He saw the over-confident darcmon going alone with a thought of flying over barricades, which were packed with fire-throwing digimon, and flying demons to boot, against tough-as-rocks golemons. What an idiot.
- If it were so easy - just fly over and take all of these down, we would have done it ages ago. Or do you think you alone can do better than all of us combined? - the Slashangemon did not seem pleased with her attempt at all. A useless waste of angel life, that what it was. Pushing the darcmon aside with his hand, the militant armored angel ordered the four of his angemon spread around the perimeter in the air, keeping away from the walls, and so they did, forming a semi-circle around the hospital area.
- With what part of your body were you thinking when you went out there? - the general berated her, upon cleaving in parts one of the boulders with his giant blades. These projectiles were no match for his power, and where other, lesser blades would have bounced off, his cleaved right through. The angemon weren't wasting time, and shot some projectiles mid-air with their hand of fate attacks, defending the city well enough. Too bad they were only so few, but they still were able to use their holy energy, and weren't completely useless...

"Slash angemon ..."
Despite all his harsh words, the darcmon couldn't help but smile and reduce the grip on her swords almost dropping them, he was just as majestic and powerful as she remembered and ... no no NO, he was an slash angemon, but he wasn't HER slash angemon, the one she knew was dead and would never return ... but he looked so much like her mentor and his severe drill sergeant-like attitude was very similar to his ... it was hard not to think about him as her mentor and teacher.
"I'm not part of this particular group of angels, I'm a wandering mercenary swordswoman who decided to help, so I am free to fight as I desire and choose how I want to live and die"
Indeed, the slash angemon had no authority on her and even if they were both angels, Ciel had long gone abandoned the rules and lifestyle of one, living only for revenge and using her blade to sever lives, not to save them. She determined that only because he looked like her mentor, she had no reason to treat him like the deceased digimon and instead treat him like any other digimon.

Slashangemon was having a bad day today. Well, he had it ever since the siege began - he was responsible for genuinely anything related to military effort, and he was the reason why the city still held on against an entire army of demons and a legion that came to its assistance. And was doing life-saving business for careless or desperate during all of this. This was a difficult enough task to perform, but generally people were grateful for saving their asses or at least did not complain. And now he had to deal with a stupid, arrogant darcmon with an attitude. The slashangemon pinned her down with his glare.
- I remember you... - the angel said, recalling he had last seen this darcmon during their vaunted breakthrough the enemy lines. If she expected to hear praise, she was dead wrong. - ... You and your friend made so much racket in the enemy camp it lead us to an illusion that an entire army had come here to our aid. - his voice went lower, ending up in a growl. He was always harsh, but you better not mess with a weary slashangemon. He put the sharp tip of his blade-arm to her chin, slowly making her look up to meet an eye contact.
- We lost many militias dead and wounded while bailing your sorry asses out, thus you owe us. You're replacing all of them with yourself, and you better be an adequate replacement. And do what I tell you to do, merc. I don't need to explain to every god-forsaken idiot one must not go into a deathtrap. - he spit out the last word, definitely being pissed off. Were these peaceful times he'd instill discipline by bashing her in the head with the flat edge of his blade, but now every soldier was on the count, that would be doing demons' job for them. The Slashangemon shuttered in aimless rage as he turned around to bash another stone coming. He wished he could stop caring and just let her go and die. Shame he couldn't.

"We only came to deliver a letter to angewomon, and to bring news to whoever was at change of the militia here, namely you"
She wasn't impressed at all by his "pushing her chin with a blade arm" stunt, her mentor used to do that and more, like ass spanking with his cold and hard blade arms to teach the troops to be humble and respectful. She sorta expected more violence from the angel commander, but it looked like stress took its toll on the shining angel and preferred to discharge his frustration on the enemy boulders.
"War is reaching every corner of the digital world, what I have experienced in the dino zone and here proves that a greater foe is trying to conquer this universe. If you really care about the world, then let this city fall, abandon the region and request the assistance of the Shadow Zone Lord Myotis, even with the bad reputation he has he might help us if we reach an agreement"
Most likely from the angel's point of view her proposal was insane, but allying with the dark digimon was the only way to stop this powerful army. Lord Myotis was a smart man and he would understand that this enemy would join forces with his own enemies in the shadow zone unless it were crushed.
"If you can't think seeing the greater picture then let me do whatever I want. I appreciate the help provided last night, but I won't become a subordinate of no one I don't approve as my superior, those stalling games of yours will only condemn the angelic host to a slow death and I won't simply stay here defending when the only way out is to attack and destroy their siege devices, only then you can think about a real plan. That's what my mentor who also was a slash angemon would say"
He had the attitude, but not the heart and virtue of her mentor, he would've understood what was going on and would've think about how to solve the situation. Ciel simply couldn't get along with the powerful angel, he was too similar, yet so different compared with her mentor that made even harder to communicate with him.

- This greater foe is called Emperor Black Omnimon. And both ... gah! ... both of these armies belong to him. - the Slashangemon replied in between deflecting boulders - the enemy artillerymen saw their efforts and intensified the fire. So far the angels held, and tylo's missiles helped much. In fact, the only one not doing anything at the moment was the arrogant darcmon with sh*t for brains. So it looked from the Slashangemon's perspective.
- And you don't know squat about enemy's, our our forces here, to even open your mouth on tactics. And with your mentor's grasp on tactics he'd end end up dead. When this battle is won and I am out of here, I'd visit your pathetic excuse for an order, and tell your mentor all I think about him and his pupils. Letting an angel go rogue without clipping the wings... Tch. - the slashangemon, unknowingly, delivered a few punches in the spot where it probably hurt Ciel the most.
- You want a real plan? How's this... - the angel said and slashed down another boulder. - This is desert, where nothing besides heat and sand can be found. They brought the stones with them, and were shelling us for a couple of days now. They would run out of ammo soon. - and as if pointing that the angel general's words were true, the fire soon started to fade, intensity of throws falling, until finally ending up in a cease. The slashangemon smirked.
- Your friend did very well in defending against these boulders. At least he is the more useful one of the pair. You know... Do what you want. Go ahead and kill yourself, just don't drag him with you. Unlike with such a marvel of a combat digimon that he is, your presence doesn't really change much, be you dead, or alive. - he nailed it, and, upon seeing that the enemies were rolling the siege engines back into tents, fled. Three of the angemon with him left without saying anything, but one, however, stayed. He flied over to the darcmon, and looked to the direction, where the slashangemon had fled, before saying.
- Please excuse our general and his manners... *sigh* Every day it's harder and harder to talk to him...
