Her felt hand on his lap, prompting him to stop looking directly forward and to actually look at her. She still didn't seem to get it. Maybe she thought he was joking, which he has been known to do with rather serious topics. However, with situation he was so serious it almost hurt him to think about it further. "Love love...silly." This time he said it rather nonchalantly, finally becoming calm once more since he realized that she was still the same person even though he confessed. But know that he made himself clear, what would be the outcome of it all? Sure he finally let go of that small burden in his heart, but did she feel the same way?
He placed his hand on top of hers, the one that was resting on his lap. All he could do was stare into her eyes, but he wanted to make it perfectly clear how serious he truly was about all this. So what if his heart was on the line? Getting hurt was important and serious, but he'd just recover...or so he believed. He wasn't exactly sure how he'd take being rejected.
"I want to be with you forever."

Hikari hadn't been expecting him to admit his love to her like this. The two of them were twins after all. This was a bit out of place, that much she knew for sure. She loved her brother, but how much did she love him and in what kind of way? She really wasn't even sure. It was a bit weird, and it wasn't something that she wanted to talk about. It would be shameful on their family if other people found out, and she couldn't have a kid with him... or rather, she could, but it probably wouldn't be right.
"I like you, and I want to be with you forever... but is this right?" she asked somewhat rhetorically. She knew the answer already, or at least society's answer. She didn't feel like getting into this would be a good idea.
"Well, Hikaru-kun... You know I'll always be there for you, and I love you too. I need you, but I don't see what the difference will be between that kind of love, and the love we already have."
She looked into his eyes, wondering exactly how he would respond to what she had said. She didn't want to deny him or anything of the sort, and she didn't want to hurt the feelings of the brother who had always been there for her. She needed him, and she knew she couldn't live without him. She never wanted to separate from him and wanted him there by her side at all times. She smiled sweetly to him and leaned forward to kiss him softly on the lips.
"Why does our love need a title? We can just agree that we love each other, and leave it at that. Regardless of whether other people come into our lives, we always know that our bond is stronger than any bond we could form with anyone else ever."

It seemed like she was being quite ambiguous with her words, skirting around things that would define how she felt about him, though it didn't seem all that negative either. However, he would have definitely preferred if she were to be a bit a more concise. It seemed like things had already become complicated for her, something that he was sure would happen. Hikari was already wondering whether or not such a relationship between them would be alright. Not only that, but it seemed like she pondering whether or not she loved him the same context. His heart was already reeling, hanging upon each and every word she seemed to utter.
"Is it right? Only if you care about the opinions of others." It was wrong as far as society was concerned, but it felt alright with him and that was all that mattered. As long as they were happy together, then things like society or how people viewed them meant absolutely nothing to him. Even though she was saying all these things, it confused him when she decided to kiss him. It was all too much for him to understand, she just kept confusing him left and right.
"I know that we have a strong bond. But...that's not the type of bond I want to explore anymore. I want to make a new bond. Sure, we'll always love each other no matter what, but loving someone is different than being in love with someone. It's not the same at all. And I know for sure that I am in love with you, despite the fact of how it may sound" He knew that she had a past for not shutting guys down when she should have, so he was going to make sure he wasn't pressuring her into anything. Hikaru's happiness meant nothing in comparison to Hikari's. "I'll understand if you don't feel the same, just tell me."

Why did there have to be such a big difference between "love" and "in love"? That distinction was what seemed to be complicating everything for the two of them. Twins were supposed to love each other, but they weren't supposed to be in love with each other. Hikari wished that there was a way to make this simpler, but it seemed as though that wasn't possible. She wasn't sure what to do. She most definitely needed Hikaru, and she most certainly needed his support. She didn't want anyone coming between them and taking Hikaru away from her.
"But how is it different? It wouldn't really change anything. We'd be the same as we are now," Hikari explained to this. She simply did not understand how them being a couple would be any different from what they already were. They were pretty close already. Could they possibly be any closer? Hikari didn't know if they could be.
"Or... are you just saying that you want to kiss more often?"

She kept pressing the issue as to how being in love was different than loving someone. Then again, he could see why she'd be confused about it all. After all, she thought she was in love before yet it turned out to be nothing more than a big lie. Maybe she was questioning what being in love was about or whether the concept could even apply to the two of them. To be honest, he wasn't sure how to explain it considering he had never truly been in love with anyone else than Hikari. After holding his feelings in for so long, he was doing a piss poor job of actually conveying them to her. "Kissing has nothing to do with this..." He said in a low tone of voice, trying to scrounge up his thoughts so that he could say something halfway intelligent.
"We already have a strong bond, something that can't be broken by anything. And I promised that I'd always be by your side. But even so...I feel like you're nothing more than my sister and my best friend. I want to do romantic things with you, I want to make you my girlfriend. I want to take you out on dates. I want to kiss you. I want to tell you that you're the only girl I look at. I want to hold you in my arms forever. I want to make you happy. I want us to be able to look up at the stars together and pretend that our lives with forever be intertwined." The blond said these things with passion in his voice, almost as though he was unable to contain himself. To him, it felt as though he was about to explode.
Staring at Hikari for a second, he tilted his head and began to move in for kiss. "Maybe I should show you..."

Hikari could get no words out as he spoke to her. Everything that he said sounded so perfect. She wanted to be there with him forever, and she wanted for the two of them to be as close as possible. In all honesty, every second that she was away from him, she felt trapped. She couldn't be herself. She couldn't speak, and she was afraid of the entire world. But when he was there with her, only then could she express her true self. She wanted to be her true self. Maybe, that was why they needed to be together.
She remained still and looked almost completely dumbfounded as he leaned forward to kiss her. She looked as though she wasn't expecting it, but in all honesty, she truly was. Almost in a trance, she leaned forward as well, and soon, their soft lips made gentle contact. They were kissing. Though after no more than a couple of seconds, she pulled away from him.
"Hikaru... I don't know... Do you really want to? We couldn't even get married if we did. People would look down upon us, and our futures would be much darker."

"I already don't care what people think. Besides, we can always get married. Whether or not it's on paper...that's something totally different. It's not like life can get much worse for us than it already is." He thought that marriage was all about how a couple feels for each other rather than whether or not people accept it. To think that she was already thinking as far as marriage... Now that he sat back and thought about it, something like that would be nice in the future. Maybe they could have a wedding on the beach, just a small service or maybe just them. That would be perfect, but they were quite far away from getting to that point.
"Anyone who gets in our way, I'll make sure to take care of them. No matter what the consequences are, I won't be stopped." The blond wrapped his fingers around Hikari's hand, holding tightly yet gently all the same. Like this, he felt just as close to her as that one night about a year ago. Yet somehow, it was somewhat different and slightly more intimate.

While what he said had a ring of truth to it, an unrecognized marriage wouldn't feel like a real marriage, at least not to Hikari. She wasn't sure about this as far as their futures were concerned, but it didn't seem that whatever opposition she made, if she made any, would be accepted by Hikaru. He was set on being in a relationship with her, she could tell even now by the way that he was holding her hand. It was unlike they had ever held hands before.
"Hikaru, I told you a while back that I promise, from now on, I'll trust in your advice and I'd never doubt you ever again... If you are sure that this is right for us, then I will not question you," Hikari looked into his eyes, wondering exactly what it was that he was thinking. Did he really believe that they were meant to be? If they were two halves of the same whole, as she believed, wouldn't being in a relationship with each other simply be like loving oneself? It was confusing to her.

"Wait...I don't want to force you into anything..." Apparently they weren't exactly on the same wavelength which was ironic considering that they were twins and twins were always supposed to be on the same wavelength. Sometimes myths were just that, myths. Either way, he felt a little off about what she had said just then. After all, he wanted her to make a decision on her own instead of it seeming like he was telling her what she should or shouldn't do with her life. What he wanted her to do was to make a decision on whether or not she felt the same way.
"I just want to know if you feel the same way...I mean, it's okay if you don't though. There's no pressure if you're afraid that you'll be letting me down or something like that. Because at the end of the day, whether you're my girlfriend or just my sister, I'll still love you no matter what." Hikaru kept looking into her eyes deeply, trying to stare directly into her soul, something he couldn't do no matter how hard he tried. If only he had the ability to see absolutely everything, those eyes would be perfect...
"I'll never hurt you, no matter what."

Hikari couldn't exactly get forced into something by him. She knew she was old enough to make her own decisions. She knew exactly how to do that, however, saying no to the person who meant the world to her would be much too hard. She loved him more than he could ever know, but still, they were siblings. The conflict going on inside of her wouldn'te nd. Why did she even care so much that they were siblings? It was because of other people. She knew that. She didn't want to be shunned more than she already was.
"I suppose... I can be both," Hikari answered him. She leaned forward now to plant a kiss on his lips.
