Previously, Tomonari met with his sister Noel in front of the high school, and they had decided to go to the mall for a bit. At least until their father got home. The two of them looked in different stores for a while, and eventually wound up at the food court. Neither of them were able to actually buy anything big, though Noel had some money to spend on ice cream. The siblings sat at a small table with two chairs, sitting across from each other. It seemed odd how well they got along, but that was only common considering how their mother's death affected them both.
What may have been the most odd, however, was their apperances. Aside from having green eyes, Tomonari and Noel didn't seems to look the same genetically. Their mother had brown hair and green eyes, while their father had blonde hair and blue eyes. Noel herself inherited their father's blonde hair color. "How was school today, Tomo? Did you have any problems?", Noel asked her brother gently.
The male teenager looked up at his older sister, and nodded, "O-oh, yeah it was fine. Though it gets kind of hard somethings." Despite his usual timid nature, Tomonari was acting calm around his sister, even putting on a gentle smile. Nodding in return, Noel said, "That's good. I hope Dad isn't working too hard. I still feel somewhat guilty that I don't help pay the bills even though I have a job. But you know how stubborn he can get." She giggled a little, and Tomonari could'nt help but laugh at that.
Each of them ate their ice cream with no problem, sometimes exchaning words here and there. Neither of them were expecting anybody to come up and talk to them, but Tomonari knew he could count on his sister.

Chiaki lay down slumped on a bench not too far ahead of them. The would be able to see her, however she could not see them. Her eyes were sealed shut. She had had a long week for her first week of school and was now ready to get some rest. Unfortunately, going home would mean no rest as she would be expected to help out with the bakery. As such, she decided to just chill at the bench and relax until the bakery's peak business hours were over.
She laid on her back, facing up toward the ceiling, paying no particular attention to anything. Her mind was locked on why she had to move to Tokyo. She wished she could have stayed in Okinawa. It was so much nice there. She understood that her parents had a business they had to worry about, but still, she wished they could have stayed. She missed her old friends, and she wanted to go back to her old home.

Since the ice cream cones were small, it didn't take too long before both of them finished their snack. Oddly enough, there was still time to walk around the mall some more until their father came home. It was Tomonari's turn to cook dinner tonight, though when he cooked, the food didn't take too long to cook, and almost always came out excellent. Tomonari and Noel got up from their seats and began to walk again, when he pulled out a small, rectangular package from his bag, "Hey, Noel? While we were in one of the stores, I picked up a booster pack of some digimon cards. I-I didn't open them, just in case you wanted to see what I got this time." A small smile came from Noel, and she nodded, "We haven't played that in a while since I left, have we? I'll see if I can try to find my deck when we get home. Anyways, open it and see what you got."
Nodding in return, Tomonari placed his finger on the small pack, and tore off the top of it. He was about to uncover the cards when he suddently tripped, lying face down on the ground next to the bench Chiaki was laying on. The cards flew out of his hand and landed on the ground in front of him, and Noel quickly bent down to help up his brother, "Tomo! Are you okay?" Tomonari nodded his head, and then began picking the new cards back up. He then realized that Chiaki was on the bench, and somewhat panicked, "O-oh! I-I'm sorry, did I disturb you?"

"Whhhaa?"
She sleepily turned her head to the side, yawning as she looked over to him on the ground. She hadn't even noticed he had fallen next to her until he heard him speak. Before that, she had thought he was further away, although she had heard the fall. She shifted her body to sit up on the bench as she looked down to him.
She noticed just in front of him some kind of cards had fallen. She thought she recognized the name 'Digimon' but she had never learned much about it, nor did she have any cards of her own. She wondered what the deal with the game was and why so many people her age seemed to play it.
"No... I'm fine.."

Even though Chiaki said she was fine, Tomonari was still worried. He finished collecting his new cards, and spoke up, "A-a-a-again, I-I'm sorry miss..." Looking at the cards again, he saw the one in the front of the now neat pile in his hands. It intrigued him for some reason, and Tomonari remained on his knees from when he was picking the cards back up. The card was a digimon card, and it was Keramon. "I wonder...are evil digimon......always meant to be evil?", Tomonari thought to himself. Noel looked down at the card he was looking at, and asked, "Is something the matter? You're looking at that Keramon card for some reason." Her brother turned his head to look at her, and responded, "I'm fine. I was just thinking about something."
His thoughts continued, all to himself, "I don't know, but for some reason I....I wish that I could have a real digimon. One that can help me protect the ones I love, no matter how he acts. Digimon shouldn't have to always be ideal.." Tomonari continued to remain there, until unexpectedly, the Keramon card began to glow, "Wha...huh?!" Being the same, shocked state as her brother, Noel said, "What's going on?! That's completely strange!" A few inches above the card, floating in midair, a shape was being formed, its power coming from the Keramon card.
A few moments later, the Keramon card stopped glowing, and reverted back to its normal, card game state. A strange device with a maroon border around the screen, a D-Arc digivice, drifted slowly into Tomonari's hand, which he had opened up without thinking. The D-Arc landed in his hand, and Tomonari looked at it in awe, "Isn't this.....one of those devices that help digimon, or something?" The teenager pondered it for a few moments, and then something else caught his eye. Right in front of him lay a rather large egg, a dark gray color, and felt as if it belonged to him. "It's......an egg?", Noel said in some disbelief.

What th-... That's weird. Chiaki thought to herself as she watched the egg form above his card. Regardless, it wasn't enough to freak her out and make her go crazy. She stayed... moderately cool.. This still didn't stop her from staring in surprise. It wasn't everyday that strange things like this happened... in fact it was a little cool. It was the second strange thing that had happened to her in one week that was related to those Digimon cards.
I'm... kind of starting to wish I played that game...
It was then that a similar device began to shine in front of her chest. It was a digivice, although she didn't know the name of it yet. She instinctively cupped her hands below it before it dropped into her hands.
"What th-?"
She examined the device, and on the screen it seemed there was some kind of pixel-animal in the shape of a small dinosaur. She stared at it...

Tomonari hesitated a moment, and then slowly reached over, and picked up the egg. He waited for a few moments, and said, "I-it..it feels like I'm connected to this egg somehow. Is it because of this device?" He eventually stood up, and the sat down on the bench, sitting next to Chiaki, but gave her some room. Noel sat down as well, since there was also some room. Tomonari quickly put his new cards back into his bag, and then, while keeping his arms wrapped around the new, gray egg, held the D-Arc in both his hands. "I wonder...is this because of the wish I just made? I'm not sure...", Tomonari said. Noel remained quiet, and eventually let out a calm smile. She looked over at her younger brother, and said, "I think you're supposed to take care of the egg and whatever hatches from it. Don't worry." Tomonari looked at his sister, and nodded. The male teenager changed his focus back to his D-Arc for a few more moments, and then over at Chiaki. He hesitated again, and the spoke up, "What.....what do you think? I'm just as confused as you are. Huh?" Tomonari looked down at the egg, which had begun to shake. He jumped and held onto the egg carefully, making sure it didn't fall and break. The egg was hatching. Both the brother and sister stared in awe as it hatched, and eventually, a small creature popped out of it. The D-Arc beeped, and a holographic image of the digimon in Tomonari's lap appeared. "It's....it's a digimon...Kuramon, a Fresh digimon..", Tomonari said. Kuramon looked up at his new tamer curiously, and then switched between Chiaki and Noel, wondering who these people were.

Chiaki stared at the little creature icon on her digivice, then looked over at Kuramon. It was a Digimon? It made sense considering it looked to have had some kind of reaction with the trading cards he was holding. She wondered if there was more to the card game than met the eye. Maybe this was why all the kids liked Digimon. She had never really even so much as touched a Digimon Card before. Now all of the sudden, this was happening.
"Hmm.. Why do you get a real one?" She interrogated as she continued to stare at her Digimon icon. If she had wanted a Digital Pet, she would have just bought one. She was at the mall after all. It wasn't such a hard thing to get in Tokyo. She kind of felt unfortunate that she hadn't gotten a real one like he did.
"Well... Hi there little eyeball... You're kind of cute."

Tomonari began to think about why he obtained a real digimon, and Chiaki only got a pixel. Shrugging, he replied honestly, "I-I don't know. Maybe you'll get a real one later?" The last bit was just him guessing, as he was still surprised by this whole deal. He knew though that he would have to take care of Kuramon, but still, why did he get a digimon in the first place? The teenager sighed, unsure of the whole deal. Looking down at the baby digimon, Tomonari wondered as to why he started with this digimon. It wasn't that important, but good to know. Looking back over at Chiaki, he looked at her D-Arc. Neither or them were any different, except for the color. That was when a thought occurred to him.
He wasn't sure if he should ask at first, but then opened his mouth to speak, "By the way, you seem familiar, maybe from school or something. Which school do you go to?" Tomonari was simply curious, and was relieved when he figured that both him and Chiaki were in the same boat here. Noel had carefully picked up Kuramon, and held the digimon in her lap for a while. Tomonari didn't mind, seeing as his sister would most likely help him out. Especially since he had to worry about taking care of both a digimon and a puppy at home.

"Okay..."
She continued to look at her digivice's screen, deciding that it wouldn't do any good to be jealous of him about his getting a little pet. After all, she should have just been happy because something somewhat exciting had happened to her in the first place. It wasn't every day that something out of the ordinary happened.
"I just started going to Shinjuku High at the beginning of this week," she told Tomonari. As she was new to the school, she didn't recognize many people yet. She still hardly knew anyone at the school as a matter of fact.
"I guess this is interesting enough..."
