The camp around the besieged city was stirring with activity even at night for a few days now - the boring mundane schedule was cardinally reformed when the new overall commander stepped in. In the wake of receiving the news that "guerillas" were approaching the camp in order to wreak havoc, he ordered massive fortifications to be constructed around the place, protecting both from attacks from the city and from the outside, like a ring. Constructing those kept everyone busy, both the demons and the "muslims" - white robe-wearing goblimon and the like.
Countless fires were lit along the perimeter, wooden barricades here and there, and constant patrols. Just because the enemy is surrounded doesn't mean their allies can stab you in the back! Somebody took great caution at meeting a bunch of random mercs, as if they were expecting not a bunch of people but a full-scale frontal assault. The motto obviously was "the more - the merrier".
However, these constructions were not yet finished everywhere. The demons proved to be the worst workers, preferring fighting and looking down on fortifications as "beneath them". They were not quite as obedient to execute such an order, unlike the troops of the 13th legion, who were more happy to work than to fight, and even several of the devils were harshly punished in order to instill discipline. General Hashim was not going to let anyone defy his orders. Still, even though some spots in the line weren't fully ready, the "ring" was practically in full battle readiness, and some goblimon were relocated to help out slacking demons to finish this in time... They did not know when the unknown enemy will attack, or where, so everybody had to be vigilant...

"Not good, there's a circular fortification around all the city area"
She expected the devils to be on guard after she let the devimon escape, but not to this level, the entire perimeter around the city was completely covered with barricades and trenches as if they expected to have a two-front war against the angels inside and any intruder outside. That kind of security was unheard from a devil and that could mean that either they had a great leader of got somebody very smart to do it for them.
"We need to create a distraction. Tylo, can you shoot really long range missiles? Maybe we can lure the guards of this sector out of it by bombarding the adjacent sector. Surely they will leave some guards there anyway, but it's better to deal with few of them than all of them"
Good thing she had Tylo with her, he was very useful for this kind of situations thanks to his missiles and with his speed they could easily pass through the few remaining guards if the distraction works.

Tylo lost much heart when he barely got a glimpse on the enemy barricades. Walls, trenches, the only thing missing was barbed wire, but surely some day someone would come up with that too. Obstacles were primary enemy of anybody who loved speed and maneuver - those things were made to stop, block, obstruct. And the shark had claustrophobia. So he considered such preparations to be a kick in the groin. However, his teacher seemed to have a plan to go around those, she always had.
- They've got quite a large welcoming committee... They can't be waiting just for us, could they? - the shark asked in amazement. He was confused, nobody builds walls and trenches to defend from 2 lousy digimon, no matter how virtuous. Were they expecting somebody else? Maybe, maybe not. But they won't know the answer unless they'd have a chit chat with the one whose idea it was, right?
- I can do that Teach, though at maximum range the missiles will have to fly uncontrollably. Here goes... - he replied eagerly non the less. The teacher needed him to do something, which was nice. She may have had the brains, but he had the abilities she didn't... It felt ... nice to be needed for something. But maybe he just got it all over his head. Never the less, he opened his maw wide, and showed the wast array of missiles inside...
And then he launched at least a half of them... It was like a rocket barrage coming from one particular place, the missiles going at a vague trajectory one after one. The accuracy, however ... suffered. Some missiles went above the targeted place, exploding somewhere inside the campus, some did not make it, and sobe landed at the barricades themselves. This was supposed to have some sort of an effect...

The sporadic fire tylomon unleashed on the camp had some effect alright... Maybe a bit more than he and his teacher expected though. While the missiles were not accurate, and did little to no damage to the fortifications themselves, but they sure made a lot of racket. Soon after that, EVERYBODY in the camp knew they were under attack. And having received an order that any attempt of breach should be considered a full-scale assault ... well, the results were ... over the top. Way over the top...
The alarms started off when the first missile exploded on the camp territory, and soon the whole place started to stir like a bothered anthill. Several "flares", which were fireballs launched by fire-breathing digimon, went into air, in an attempt to light the place surrounding the area. May troops arrived to the place of a "breach, and many more ran around the perimeter, taking their places on battlestations. Most were the whitecoats however - Hashim did not trust the devils to hold perimeter defense. Instead he gave them a much more "suitable task". Whenever such things occurred, their parties would go around and search for those who dared to attack... Several scouting parties, consisting of a few devimon and a dozen demidevimon, took flight to search and destroy... Well, they sure had a lot of territory to search - in the dark of the night nobody noticed where the attack came from...

"Now this is our opportunity"
Ciel sit on top of Tylo's back and tightly grabbed herself of his helmet armor, it was time for a high stakes race, and the tylomon was going to be her top class vehicle. Now all they needed was to have the road clean and free of obstacles like a devimon or two.
"You have better night vision than me, wait until there are few or no guards in our line of movement, and then move at full speed in a straight line towards the enemy base, I'm sure none of their troops can catch you up in a straight line race"
Said that, she waited lying on top of Tylo for the moment to accelerate and march at full speed, they had one one opportunity to do this and things could go badly if somebody caught then while they were still accelerating.

- But ... there are no blank spots ... And there are walls... - the shark protested, though weakly. He did trust in the angel's judgment, but ... how was he going to go over a solid wall with spikes on it?He didn't know, but had to try... There were still uncompleted parts of the fortifications here and there, but they still were an obstacle, getting around would be tricky. I can do it... Just ... need to be calm and concentrate. - tylo was nervous, he did not fear for his own safety, he was a battleship and could take a wagon-load of punishment, but ... would she be able to do the same? The memories of the ambush were still clear, when the enemy rained fire on him. The shark endured, but those with him ... did not.
He waited and struggled to find a good opening till the last moment, till the scouting parties got dangerously close, and figured there was no more time to be lost. He had to make it, now or never. He chose an opening where it seemed fewer guards were, those strange robe-wearing digimon with stubby halberd-like weapons... He was not able to recognize these digimon just yet, but they did not look too tough. Really, why was he so worried? Ciel had a plan after all, and this thought was strengthened by the shark usual red-headedness overwhelmed the sudden outburst of cautiousness.
- Hold on tight, teach, we're in for a wild ride! - he replied with his standard hot-shot catch-phrase, and jumped out of the improvised hideout of theirs, charging at full speed, just on front of the patrol's noses. They were shocked for a few seconds at the sight of a flipping angel riding an armored jet shark, and that gave tylo the edge to make distance and catch speed. Whatever fire he may receive from the fortifications - surely his armor was able to shrug it...
And that it was, though the firepower of the defenders was solely underestimated once more. The weird troopers were tossing small fireballs from the barricades at the approaching speedster, creating a literal firewall in their path. - Hang on! - the shark yelled as he went straight into the fire, which seared his sides, but nothing lethal. Every time now and then a random fireball managed to hit him, but he approached the half-finished walls in no time... It was still under construction, only half the height it should be, so Tylomon though he could jump it.
- Here we go! - the shark yelled as he gathered all of the air in order to make a bigger, more powerful gust of wind and literally jump in the air a few meters. He did it several times before, but never practiced jumping such altitude. Still it was better than ramming a solid wall. There it is, only a meter away, JUMP and ... he made it, his lower side barely scratching the top of the wall as he made it through, unfortunately, the change of ground was still too much of a factor for him to control, and the shark almost lost balance upon landing, going into a wild spin and crashing into another wall. They were inside the enemy "circle" now, and would probably have to face the garrisoned troops inside...

- Here they come! Prepare for combat! - barking of the ogremon to their subordinates was heard as the garrisoned troops at the breach point feverishly tried to prepare for the incoming foe, after realizing incoming fire would not do squat to stop them. At least one platoon was stationed behind the half-constructed wall, their clubs, which looked more like stubby short halberd-like weapons, after the reform, were sticking out of everywhere, intending to meet the ramming shark with a pork-q-pine of blades and edges.
Unfortunately, they did not expect the shark to actually jump the barricade, and land on the other side. The troops were not yet that organized to quickly reform ranks and turn around to face the enemy, though intensive training they were given these few days was surely showing some results - at least they were sticking together and knew how to hold a simple line formation. Fortunately the enemy's landing was not quite soft, and the goblimon with their ogremon sergeant managed to reconfigure to face the enemy again. Another platoon from adjacent part came quickly to provide support.
- Ready! Aim! Fireball! - and with that the two lines of goblimon launched a not very synchronized, but non the less a volley of smaller fireballs at the enemy, before they would go charging into close combat - that was what they were told - weaken the enemy with barrage, then charge and finish them off in close quarter... -----------
Meanwhile the commotion at the enemy camp was noticed by the defenders inside the city. Judging by the sound of alarms they were attacked by no less than an army - a very hopeful, but wrong thought. Did one of the messengers they sent out break through and somebody came to their aid? They did not know, and had no means to find out.
- What is going on out there? - the slashangemon barked out, standing on one of the surviving city towers, always watching the enemy encampment. And recent changes made to it.
- We don't know sire, an attack, probably - one of the hapless watchmen replied...

"Full speed!!"
Tylo did it! He was literally a missile that soared through the air and avoided at least 3/4 of the guards they would've had to fight against if weren't because they rammed through their defenses at full speed. Probably the Tylomon didn't notice it, but Ciel was helping him as well while he hovered at full speed, she flapped her wings as strong as possible all the time to slowly but firmly make them gain altitude and when the big jump had to be done, she flapped the wings like she had never done it. Alas, that wasn't enough and they ended up trapped inside enemy territory. Well, at least they skipped most of the sentries and they were almost in the outskirts of the city.
"Well done Tylo, now try to regain your energy, I shall protect you until we are ready to continue. But don't take too long, more enemy reinforcements could arrive"
What she asked the tylomon to do previously was highly likely to put a lot of stress of the shark's body, so she decided to take down anything that got close to him until he recovered. She saw the fireballs coming towards them and took flight to stop them with her swords, sometimes slashing through them, sometimes tossing her swords to make them collide with the enemy fire, none of them was going to pass her diligent defense and just in case, she still kept an eye on the battlefield below her, it would be sad if an enemy managed to sneak right on their landing site and sucker punched them.

- Imma... I'm, okay... Where are we? - the tylomon's eyes were spinning uncontrollably and in different directions because of the bump he got on his head - the impact of his skull against the wall was more stronger than he anticipated. It rendered him a bit helpless for a few brief moments, but fortunately Ciel was there to cover him from the incoming fire barrage, while he recovered. Such a nice angel she were, always helping out whenever he needed it... Bullpoopall bad things she said about herself, she was the best angel Tylo knew.
As his vision was becoming less blurry, he spouted out a few missiles in general direction of the enemy troops, hoping that at least a blast wave would get them, but he was not able to aim properly at the moment - he was a bit fatigued and confused from the damage, that sprint, and from unloading a half of his munitions before commencing the assault. So far he did most of the leg... err... finwork around.

- Incoming fire! - the goblimon line dispersed as soon as the tylomon attempted attacking them with missiles again - the troops took cover behind rubble and other objects, not wishing to be hit by the champion's attacks. However, they did not run, oh no, not now! They barely regained confidence after that horrible defeat in the Battle of Dragon Valley, they would not disgrace themselves again like that. Well, not yet at least. They still tossed their fireballs at the angel and at the shark from afar, but their sync was ruined quite completely. Still, even though they were not quite professional, their tactics were not completely hopeless...
Meanwhile, the other platoon that was still in line formation and saw that their shooting did not quite work, mostly because, again, of lack of proper sync, giving the angle swordswoman time between shots to swing blades and deflect the fireballs. But they could not allow the enemy to escape! Reinforcements were coming, they could hear the sound of feet at the walls already, they only needed to win some more time! The ogremon who was the sergeant decided to win the time the only way he knew how...
- Cease fire! Halberds ready! Our general watches upon us! We shall not fail him! CHAAARGE!
- *many voices* WAAAAAGH! - a battle-cry followed as the whole platoon charged forward, their polearms gleaming in the dim light of torches that lit the area. Their charge was much more synchronized than their shooting - goblimon were better suited for close-quarters after all. And they were good at sticking together as a team - when a squad charges in, individual fencing doesn't really count - the power of the blow would overwhelm anyone. The attacking platoon sought to smite both the angel and the shark, or at least the shark should the angel use her wings and fly away... -------------
- Sir! Sir! They have managed to breach the enemy blockade! Fighting is going on the inside! - one of the watchmen, who was of the locals, reported to the slashangemon, who requested to survey the situation and requested full report about what the hell was going on. The news about fihting on the enemy lines spread among the defenders. Maybe those were reinforcements? Everybody hoped so, but the wise angel commander did not get his hopes up too much. This could be a trap after all. But if it wasn't...
- Tell the troops we're attempting an assault tonight. Now even. I will lead my angel squadron to battle myself. Whoever these strangers are, we must break through to them! - he finally said, his words giving much confidence to whoever heard him. The slashangemon himself - commander of the holy armies, was going to lead the charge! How could they fail? Of course they couldn't, but still an attack would take a few moments to prepare, and those precious moments the two strugglers inside might not have...
