Arms wrapped around her knees as she sat upon the beach, Jeri looked on at Salamon as she ran along the shore line. It was nearing sunset, so many people were leaving, and those that were still around assumed that the creature was simply a dog that was being allowed off its leash for a moment. Smiling as she could see the digimon was clearly enjoying her freedom, the girl returned to thinking about the events that had occurred at home. Perhaps she had just been seeing figments, just haunting memories. But they had appeared so real that she could have sworn that it had been.
But it wasn't. Salamon didn't see anything, and could only recall seeing her scream and jumping to attention. So there was no way it was real. So what did that mean? Was she going crazy? The young teen rested her chin upon the top of her knees, eyes wide as she watched the sun as it continued to disappear under the water. Why couldn't she just forget what she saw and move on? There was so much that needed to be done, and the last thing she wanted was to be a burden to the others. Perhaps keeping this to herself would be for the best. The others didn't need to worry about her mental state, especially if it was just her imagination getting the best of her.
Letting her smile slowly fade as she knew that it was once more an attempt of hiding the truth, Jeri sighed as she closed her eyes. She hated lying. She hated even more that she had become such a master of hiding her true feelings. So easily able to smile and say everything was right with her, even when it wasn't. She never wanted to be a problem or a burden to anyone, and yet somehow she always managed to be. Just like when her mother...
Mom.....
Allowing her eyes to open slightly, she felt a tear slide down her face, though she quickly wiped it away as a smile crept over herself. She was so weak. A thought could bring her to tears so easily. Looking around as she saw that it was just Salamon and herself on near the water now, she could see that it was starting to get late and they would still have a long way to get home. They had to get to the station to catch they train or else she would have to call her father for a ride.

Little did the girl know, that she was watched all the time since she left home. People were leaving the beach - since it was getting late, and were not vigilant enough to spot a "weird human" around. And indeed, the digimon looked like a human - he had two arms, two legs, a head, was wearing clothes, and had a humanoid figure. It helped him blend in at times when he was not concealed.
He understood that the girl he spied on was in a stressed emotional state, he knew it all too well, being apt in psychology of both humans and digimon. And he figured that he might use these weaknesses to advantage, or simply for amusement. He slowly walked to the girl out of his hiding spot, his feet making a familiar sound on the sandy ground...
- Is something wrong, little girl? Why are you crying? Kraa! - the crow on Nohemon's shoulder asked, once they approached. The crow sounded kind enough, but there was almost untraceable eeriness in its voice. The puppet it sat on remained motionless as a statue, or, better to say, as a puppet...

Jeri blinked as she saw the large shadow that appeared over her own. Turning to see who it was, she held a rather confused expression as she couldn't really see its face. With the sun setting at her front, the area behind her was quite dark, leaving not much light to give her clear vision. But that wasn't the only thing that made her wary of this stranger. The fact that he had a black feathered bird upon his shoulder also left her a bit uneasy. Though she wouldn't rude, it was possible that it was just some nice person who saw her moment of sadness and wished to help.
"Oh...Its nothing...I just had got some sand in my eye for a moment..I'm fine..."
Rising up to her feet as she dusted herself off, she smiled towards the figure as she bowed her head in thanks.
"But thank you for your concern though..."

- Aww, a girl all alone on a beach at sunset, with a sad expression on her face, and has something in her eye? Somebody's thinking we're blind, Kraaa! - the crow summarized its observations. It was amusing to see something gnawed the girl from the inside, and Nohemon wanted to know what exactly. It was a habit - to collect an interesting story from every one he had slain, and this one promised to be interesting.
- Maybe you would tell us? We had seen many people, each had a story to share with us. Maybe we would be able to give advice... Or just get the weight off your shoulders? - the crow asked, and cocked it's head, waiting for an answer. The puppet did nothing, just played with an arrow in his hands...

Narrowing her gaze as she lowered her gaze, the girl couldn't believe that someone had actually seen her or even could tell that something was wrong with her. Her arms remained at her side as the sound of the water moving up to the shore could be heard as clearly as the squawking seagulls. Jeri remained quiet, not sure what to say or do at this point. She felt like she could actually talk to this person, maybe she could? She didn't know him, so it wouldn't matter if she said what she was thinking. He also didn't look like someone who would judge her.
"I was....thinking about my mother....She died when I was little, and I guess I feel like I was..."
The young female stopped as she wasn't sure how to continue. Did she really think it was her fault that her mother died?
As all this seemed to be occurring, Salamon slowly moved back towards the place Jeri had told her to meet her. Seeing how it was getting dark, it was only natural that she wanted to make sure to be back with her tamer so they could get home. But as she drew near the girl's location, the digimon noticed that she was speaking to someone. This forced her to stop, but she began to think there was something odd about the stranger. His figure seemed so stiff, and their looked to be something in his hand that held a very shiny point.
"A glow stick maybe?"

- 'Tis so very sad... - the crow sniffed, it looked like it was genuinely sobbing. The puppet didn't even twitch. That was explainable, of course - after all, it was the crow that controlled it, though referring to self not as I, but We, and was responsible for expressing emotion the puppet won't show.
- .. you feel like responsible for your mother's death? Why so? Not true! - the bird exclaimed suddenly. - We knew a boy... His mother died during birth, and technically, he was the cause of it... He blamed himself, and father blamed him, a harsh man he was, poor child... Jumped out of the window he did... But we don't want that to happen to you! Tell us, why do you feel guilty? I'm sure 'tis not your fault, Kraa! - the crow expressed both condolences and interest. The puppet looked bored, however, and, using his bow, was aiming at the moon which appeared in the darkness...

Jeri still could not tell that she was talking to a digimon, nor did it matter to her that he appeared to be armed with a bow. Watching as he seemed to be aiming its arrow towards the moon, the young girl continued to speak as she had previous. It felt good speaking about her concerns, even if it scared her that she might end up like the boy within the stranger's tale. That fate seemed so close to her that it made her shiver just thinking about it. But could she really go so far? Ending her life?
"Its just that......I always seem to be a burden to everyone. I can't do anything to help anyone, and...I just feel like the only thing I can do as of late is cause problems for those around me. I don't know what to do or...how to feel...I just..."
Feeling her eyes begin to well up once again, she turned her gaze once more to the ground as a means to hide her tears. Closing her eyes as she did her best to muffling her soft sobs, Jeri became silent once more.
Salamon continued to watch from a distance, not trusting this stranger as he now had a bow in his hands and was aiming the arrow towards the sky. There was something not right about him, and that crow was disturbing her the most. It was almost as if it were the one doing the talking, especially since there appeared to always be a crowing noise at the end of each comment that was made. But how could that be? Crows didn't talk in this world....did they?

The crow cocked it's head once more. This was certainly a story it didn't hear before. All others it heard were dull, boring - people invented problems for themselves, and those usually were like pathetic Freudian excuses, non - existent, but this one ... this one sounded different. It was strange to hear that a child, a small child had so many ... issues?
- Hmm... Why can't you help? - the crow asked in amazement. - You have two arms, two legs, a head, and you look like a bright girl, so ... I don't see any problem. What makes you worse than other humans? - the crow inquired again. The puppet released the arrow, and it went high high in the sky, shining in the moonlight with it's edge, before splashing somewhere away.
- Are you sad that you can't help people in general, or is it someone particular that you want to help? - the crow suddenly laughed, but it was more of a sad laughter for some reason. - There are many people who don't ask themselves such questions, like you do. Instead, they ask questions like "How can a get at least a loaf of bread on my table today?". They are much more unfortunate than you are, little girl. You have friends, yes? Some people don't have even that. - the bird shrugged. It felt sorry for the girl, but knew simple words of pity won't do - she'd just keep mulling it over and over again - such was human nature. What was required here, was an advice...
- If you feel the need to help somebody - help! And do not ask yourself what you should feel - you already are feeling what you are supposed to feel. People feel sad when they are sad, they're happy when they are happy, and they scream when in pain. It is natural... - the crow explained.
- There's no such thing ... as "I can't." There's only ... "I don't want to"... - the puppet suddenly opened it's mouth, and spoke, while still looking at the moon...

Jeri listened to the person before her, blinking as she couldn't believe that she had never considered any of this. How could she have been so selfish? She had so many friends that were ready to help her when she needed it, and yet she denied it. But then, who could say that those people were her friends anymore? The way they acted around her at times, it was more like she was a burden. Someone that was there only to be sure that their secrets were safe from public.
That's.....not true....is it?
While the girl seemed to be in a conflict with what to think, the light of the moon began to come over upon the beach, giving Salamon a clear view of just who this person was. With his appearance being some what visible, the small digimon gasped as she could see now that it was in fact a digimon, Nohemon to be exact. This wasn't good, Jeri was standing right before a monster and she didn't even seem to realize it.
"Jeri!"
With this cry, the Salamon made a dash towards her location, gritting her teeth as she attempted to ram her head right into the digimon's side to move him away from her tamer.

The girl silenced, obviously thinking about what the Nohemon said. That was good - it meant she would at least consider listening to their words. And she would need some time to have them sink in. Nohemon was ready to wait - it's somewhat nasty intentions to play on the girl's weaknesses like on the strings of a guitar vanished quite completely. How funny it was, it seemed that even the puppet-master appeared to have a heart.
- Well, what are you going to do about it? You cannot just leave it be, apathy is death. - the crow exclaimed, wanting to know what course of action the girl would take.
- Apathy ... is ... death. - the puppet replied slowly, being a "living" proof of what apathy was. Consumed by it, one would become little more than a lifeless, soulless, emotionless puppet. It was like in nature - movement is life, stillness is death.
They didn't quite expect the weird dog thingy appear out of of nowhere, ramming the Nohemon with it's head, almost knocking them on the ground, but the puppet wasn't fragile, and stood ground. It pulled up the digimon by it's nape like an annoying pup, and the crow asked with irritation:
- Hey! What's the big idea, Shorty?
