Forests... Many square kilometers filled with trees, and various indigenous lifeforms that made the place their home. A way to escape the noise of the big city, or just to escape. There were no prying eyes in the forests, no cameras to track your every move, no walls, no ... restrictions. Some call it wilderness, some - freedom.
Renee both liked and hated it here. It was calm, quiet, very nice. Larry advised her that she should make her permanent residence in the forest for a while, until the water stops rumbling, saying that this is the safest place possible. The decision to move here was made reluctantly, since Renee really missed her partner, and wished to be closer to him, and forest was too far off. That was the only problem, but Larry promised to pay visits, occasionally...
- This is the cost for my safety... Cost of my foolishness... I should have been more careful. - she said to herself, holding her eyepatch in her hand, looking at it, with her only eye. Last time she was foolish she almost paid with her life. This time her foolishness forced her to severe connections with everyone else on the crew. She missed them too, it seemed lonely and boring here without anybody. Who would have thought she actually grew attached to those as well?
Suddenly, she heard some noises coming from down below, and twitched her head to see what was going on. She was out of sight, high up in the branches, so she was perfectly concealed. But one must figure what was going on before jumping into action, right?

Renamon was indeed correct in believing something was going on below her, and it had appeared to be a giant bird digimon. A Diatrymon in fact. The digimon was walking through the trees, pecking at the bushes and slamming into trees. What it was doing wasn't entirely apparent until a rabbit darted out of the bushes, only to be quickly scooped up in the Diatrymon's beak which clamped down on his spine, killing it before it swallowed the creature whole. "Good for nothing creatures..." The Diatrymon grumbled. He couldn't understand why digimon thought that going to this world made you stronger. There weren't nearly as many digimon for him to defeat for their data, and this world made such extraneous activities such as feeding a requirement for living. What was the deal with that? How the heck were you supposed to get strong here if you had to spend most of your time hunting food that didn't even have any data to offer? He then slammed into Renamon's tree. Something had to fall. A squirrel, a digimon, he didn't care which. Well, digimon would be preferred. As far as he cared loading a digimon's data was most important.

What on earth was with all these digimon emerging? Khrys thought as she and Strikedramon ran through the woods. She knew full well that work was going to pick up mega time now that their strongest member was out of commission and the only other two members of the digi-ops were out of town, but it was really starting to become overwhelming. This had to to be the fourth one today they had to go after. She certainly wasn't going after any more today though. Strikedramon was beginning to look beat up.
Indeed, Strikedramon had his work cut out for him today, and he was certainly feeling the burn. He wasn't one to complain... or say anything for that matter. So off he went on yet another battle. He wasn't too concerned either though. He was strong, and there were few digimon in the human world that stood much of a chance against him. His condition may tip the scales slightly in the opponents favor, but it wasn't nearly enough for him to have any concern of losing.
"There it is. Let try and get this done and over with quickly okay?" Khrys told BlackStrikedramon as she bolted behind a tree. Her partner nodded as he looked on from his own position. A Diatrymon. The digimon was currently just rifling through the bushes and hitting trees, not really paying attention to it's distant surroundings. If he had any intention of getting a good hit in, this was likely going to be his only chance. The moment the Diatrymon averted it's gaze, Strikedramon bolted for the enemy, lighting himself in red fire as he aimed to ram into the bird digimon's body.

((Going to push this along a little... I assume Renamon isn't going to rush into revealing herself infront of Khrys and Strikedramon anyways...))
The Diatrymon had been focused on waiting for something to come out of the tree, and in his neglect to pay attention to his surroundings, he had ended up blindsided by some digimon's sucker punch. The bird shrieked, more in surprise than pain as it got knocked over by the Strikedramon's attack. The attack had did quite little, but he could feel his metallic feathers heat up, and begin to scorch his skin.
Diatrymon however, wasted no time in his counter attack, bolting up and attacking very suddenly. "Destruction Roar!" He shrieked, as he sent a blast of sonic waves at the Strikedramon. "Hmph. You may have been fortunate to sneak an attack in, but I promise you won't land another." He jeered, snickering under his breath. It may not have come from, where he had expected it to come, but it was still the battle he was searching for. He was going to have fun throwing this guy around.

Strikedramon might have been able to move fast enough if he hadn't already been through numerous battles that day. It wasn't the case though, and the Diatrymon scored a hit on him fairly easily, sending him flying backward into a tree, scoring quite a bit of damage. Strikedramon got up though, growling at the Diatrymon. It didn't even look hurt from his attack! This was going to be a lot harder than he had anticipated, but he wasn't a quitter. He had made it clear he wanted to fight, so he was fighting.
Khrys was shocked at how little the Diatrymon had been phased by Strikedramon's head on attack. Instantly she knew all hope of surviving a rushed battle was gone. "BlackStrikedramon, forget about doing this quick. It isn't happening. Go for attack pattern epsilon instead." Khrys ordered. Attack pattern epsilon was a more conservative fighting style, which focused minimum energy usage, avoiding hits, and only attacking when the opportunity was obvious. It was slow, but it was a good strategy for opponents sporting both high defensive and offensive capabilities.
BlackStrikedramon simply nodded, and took a jump away from the tree he had crashed into. No standing in a more open position, he simply stood his ground. He then waited. At this distance, the Diatrymon was likely to fire another Destriction Roar attack. This time he'd be ready for it.

Renee was caught a bit by surprise with the unexpected attack against the tree, but not enough to make her lose her grip and fall down. Seriously, did he really think this was going to shake her down? Probably not, the guy must have punched her tree at random. Renee did not plan on attacking this digimon, not yet. He was a champion, and Larry wasn't around with his cards. This needed intricate strategy.
Fortunately, another number was added to the equation, as a fiery attack descended upon the bird, and made it lose interest to knocking trees. Renee's eyes widened - she knew the digimon that appeared, and the human voice that came afterwards confirmed her hunches. - Khrys? What the hell are you doing here? - she thought, covering her ears from sonic attack that was unleashed. Renee figured what was going on the next moment - probably since her "death", she was assigned to deal with most spawns she could find. And now the battle didn't look too good for strikedramon - it had just started and he looked beat up already.
Two thoughts were wrestling over in Renee's head. One said to stay concealed and let them do the fighting. Other said she should help out. The fox tried shutting the second thought off - even if she did attack, her blows and diamond storms would have been useless against that bird's armor. Without cards she was generally useless... - There is another way.[/color] - she heard her own voice in her head, and her eyes widened even more. She knew what "she" was talking about, but she really didn't want to do it. Would she even be able to change back once that is done? She did not know, and really did not want to find out. - No, the time did not yet come... Not yet... - Renee answered to herself mentally, and kept watching the battle...

Diatrymon crowed out of sheer delight as he watched the Strikedramon crash into a tree with such an easy hit. "Come on. Don't tell me you are holding back! Give me a challenge!" Diatrymon squawked at his opponent as he began to get up. He sneered as the Strikedramon invited him to attack again. Well, he was asking for it! "Destruction Roar!" The Diatrymon shrieked, sending another wave of sonic blasts at the Strikedramon

So the Diatrymon attacked, and Strikedramon made to jump out of the way as the attack came. However, he wasn't fast enough, and was still clipped by the attack. Crap, this wasn't working out well. Not too well at all. It was fast, and he was tired. He needed to try harder. He then jumped onto one of the lower branches of a nearby tree, and looked down on the Diatrymon. "Go ahead and attack." He thought.

The Strikedramon made a sloppy attempt to avoid his attack. As if dodging was going to save him. He already looked exhausted, and it was only a matter of time before his energy was out, and his data was as good as his. His gaze followed the strikedramon as he jumped into a tree, and again, waited. Did he think it was going to be any different just because he was in a tree? Oh how foolish some digimon could be. "Destruction Roar!" He shrieked yet again, sending the attack up into the trees toward the Strikedramon.

Strikedramon jumped away as soon as the attack was called, and managed to jump over the attack. He then fell right onto the Diatrymon's back, surrounded by blue flames as went in for a striking barrage, pummelling the bird's metallic feathers with a barrage of flaming kicks and punches. "Strikedramon, get away from it!" Khrys shouted as Strikedramon continued to pound on the Diatrymon's body.
The order came too late, however. The Diatrymon spun around, knocking the Strikedramon away with a strike from his wing, sending him flying into another tree and falling into a heap on the ground, where he lay unconscious. "Strikedramon! Get up! Get up now!" Khrys called out, panic becoming more and more obvious in her tone as she fished through her cards for something... anything that might work. They were useless. All useless! "You have to get up Strikedramon! Please!" Don't let me lose you too...
Diatrymon ignored the human's cries for her partner. Once he was done with the Strikedramon, he'd make a snack out of the human as well. He stood over the Strikedramon, pinning the unconscious digimon's legs down as he prepared to deliver the lethal blow.
