The fangmon too underestimated his opponent, because the wizardmon was exactly a mere centimeter behind the illusion clone that came along him, and that illusion clone was concealing a sturdy mailbox, it wouldn't stop the fangmon for much time, but at least would give him something to bite for a few seconds
Behind themailbox concealed by the illusion lied the true wizardmon, with a new magic charge in his hands and ready to blast away the feral digimon. He also gave a quick look at his surroundings finding for an improvised replacement for his his magic wand, but he had no luck so he simply expected the impact with the mailbox to daze the wolf enough to give him a free shot.

That was certainly a surprise. The clone disappeared just when the wolf's jaws clanked to snap at him, and claws slashed in a wain effort. Instead the solid metal of a mailbox appeared in the way, but the wolf didn't have enough time to stop his wild dash, and smashed right into it, ramming with the mailbox and whoever was behind it through sheer force of F=m*v squared.
That sudden and violent attack surely would have disrupted wizardmon's concentration, at least for a moment. Fangmon shook his head, to get rid of dizziness and confusion, before looking at the wizardmon with blood-filled eyes. That prick annoyed him for enough time, it was time for payback. And Fangmon had one more surprise, besides his fangs and teeth.
- I have a surprise for you... I am not left-handed! - the monster said sneeringly, and, all of a sudden, released a blast of dark energy from his mouth directly at his target. And when they thought he is only close combat digimon... His blast coffin attack would prove them otherwise... ------- (found what that attack does xD)

The wizardmon's calculations were a bit off the mark and the mailbox was more frail than he thought. It indeed stopped the fangmon, but the structural integrity of said object was weaker than expected and both mailbox and wizardmon were pushed away by the sheer force of the impact.
He felt slightly dazed by the attack, but his magic still lingered in his being and as soon he recovered from the impact, he prepared to attack again. The fangmon had pretty much the same idea and spew foul death energy from his mouth.
The wizardmon, not wanting to be less than his foe, unleashed another thunder ball on his enemy and both powers collided and nulled each other, causing an explosion between both warriors that slightly threw the cloaked digimon out of balance. Had the wizardmon have his wand, the thunder ball would have not only won the clash of powers but also effortlessly severely injure the brutal wolf. Alas, he could rely no longer access his true power and he had to use magic weaker than usual.
And so, the battle continued raging as a human female slowly came closer and closer to the battlefield, unaware of her eventual partnership with the debilitated wizard digimon.

- Blargh! - the demon wolf spewed out, when the explosion threw both of them in opposite directions. He had no idea what damage was dealt to the wizardmon, but felt himself in well-enough shape to continue on his raging assault. Maybe his tactics weren't always the best, but sheer aggressiveness of the onslaught compensated for it. He had to handle it to the opponent though - it took courage to hold against such a horrible-looking threat for so long. But everything had to come to an end some day.
- So you got off easy this time. Let us see for how long your luck will last. Blast Coffin! - the creature roared, and launched another dark energy attack from his mouth. But, then, to much of the opponent's dismay, he launched another one, and another one, and another one. This was no incantation of any sorts, but more of a natural ability, making Fangmon be able to use it without wasting time to bend magic - this was a part of his very corrupted being. Blasts of dark energy were approaching their target with frightening speed, meaning to delete the very essence of the wizardmon, if hit...

The wizardmon quickly recovered from the explosion and braced himself to endure the dark blast barrage the fangmon unleashed on him. It wasn't common knowledge between digimons, but magician types tend to be quite resistant against energy attacks, compensating for their rather low physical resistance.
He had no time to waste and immediately shoots consecutively two thunder balls from his hands, at least that would null two of the dark energy blast while the wizardmon prepared to take head on the rest of the attacks charging his body with a magical power. It was really handicapping not to have his wand, such tool helped to channel the mystic energies and make of the wizardmon one of the strongest champion level digimon only behind the likes of angemon and devimon. Alas, without it, he was only an average champion level digimon.
Such debilitating weakness remind him of his old friend gatomon. Her species wore special holy ring that symbolized their holy heritage and losing it would make them as weak as a rookie level digimon. Luckily for the wizardmon, he wasn't crippled so severely as it would happen in the case of a gatomon, but now his casting speed, fire rate and the power of his skills suffered.
Using the memory of his gatomon friend to find strength, he focused all his magical power into strengthening his body and put in front of the incoming blasts his lightning energy charged hands in an attempt to stop the attack. His plan partially succeed as the blasts clashed and dissipated in front of his hands, but the accumulative damage was slowly sapping away his vitality and exactly the second to last of the blast coffin attacks sent him flying right into a light-post while the last coffin blast barely missed him and collided into a car, slightly bending its chassis.
It seemed like a hopeless situation, but the wizardmon knew that the fangmon had to be exhausted as well after firing so many energy blasts. One of the reasons why no digimon fast shoted big attacks like a greymon's mega-flare or an angemon's hand of fate was due how much energy they took from their bodies. The ones who dared to rapid shot either were cautious digimon who severely lowered the intensity of their attacks to compensate for the energy drain they implied or were reckless digimon who attacked consecutively with full force blasts hoping for a quick victory before they exhausted themselves in a risky all or nothing double edged tactic.

The wizardmon resisted the onslaught of dark energy balls Fangmon launched at him, standing ground defensively. The wolf surely was loosing his strength with firing those attacks, but he knew it took the wizard equal strength, if not more, to block them. And the attacks eventually payed off - the wizardmon was tossed into the light-pole with one of the last attacks, probably receiving nasty damage from the hit, since the said pole was subsequently destroyed by the impact.
Fangmon thought it to be a good opportunity to charge in, and tear the enemy apart with his sharp claws and teeth, but what this fight thought him so far was not to underestimate the wizard. If he tried that, surely he would have been met with a lightning ball in the face. He needed to figure out a plan to get to the magic man, without taking a hit by that lightning himself. And soon, he had an idea...
- Grrrrr... - he roared, before charging at the wizardmon again. As he was only a few steps away from the target, the wolf leaped into the air, coming directly at the wizardmon, and opened his mouth. - Blast coffin! - and the black energy attack came afterwards. Even if the wizardmon could stop the blast, what would stop the clawed and fanged body flying mid-air, coming at him?

The wizard had a nasty injury in his back, he hit so hard there that for a second he thought he was going to break his spine and end disabled for life. However, once more he managed to avoid the worst scenario and still was battle capable.
As the big, bad wolf ran after him and jumped to perform an aerial attack, the wizardmon recovered his stance and even with his pained back, he managed to perform a jump roll to the right of his current position just in the nick of time and narrowly avoided the aerial blast coffin the fangmon attempted to cause death with. What's more, he used the energy of the explosion to further impulse himself far from the feral wolf and he barely received any splash damage from it.
Probably the rabid lupine slowed down a bit after eating the splash damage of his own blast, with that thing about being too close to the impact site, so the wizardmon decided to change of tactic and zap the enemy with a constant flow of lightning that hopefully slowed down the foe's movements and numbed his muscles. He reminded how in a movie humans enjoyed called "star wars" one of the big bad guys loved to zap and constantly electrocute the enemy with electricity from his hands and found a bit ironic that he, a good digimon, was pretty much re-enacting the same scene.

The wizardmon managed to move out of the way in the last moment, allowing the Fangmon get caught in the blast of his own explosion. That didn't too much damage though, the ground took most of it, but the wolf's face was now completely black, with evil yellow eyes glowing like car-lights, as he stared at the annoying wizard. He laid enough punishment to allow him to escape. No way.
- You are getting on my nerv... agrh! - the creature roared in pain when the wizardmon launched a continuous bolt of lighting at him. The electrical surges went through his entire body, eyes sparkling yellow-blue. The pain was quickly becoming insufferable, and the only way to make it stop was ... to tear the pest to little shreds.
- I ... kill you... - the beast hissed, and made a step forward, then another... The concrete ground left clawmarks it left as proceeded, that was how much force the wolf implied just to move forward. The wizardmon's plan was good, but he didn't count one thing. Whenever a beast close to his violent animalistic nature gets hurt, the pain makes him mad with it, resulting in...
- Raaargh! - the maddened demon wolf's eyes changed from yellow to bloody red, as he dashed forward, disregarding the lighting bolts, driven by sole desire to kill, crush and destroy whoever laid so much hurt on him, and charged at the wizardmon, attacking with both claws and teeth, with complete disregard for whatever damage would be laid upon him...

"A berserk fury ..."
The wise wizardmon knew well about this kind of martial trance some warriors could activate, it granted them an incredible explosion of energy through pumping their bodies with excessive adrenaline and made them unable of feeling pain or tiredness. Such kind of berserkers would fight even if their very flesh were torn apart until either the enemy were destroyed or the berserker were the one destroyed.
There was not much that he could do right now as the berserk fury made the fangmon immune to the numbing effect of his lightning bolts. Dodging the incoming charge was impossible for he would quickly turn around and shred him with his claws and using illusions would not fool somebody completely driven by his most animalistic and primal instincts who lost the capability to reason.
"There you are, evil demon lord, crystal dust maaaagic!"
Out of nowhere, a young female appeared (from the nearby park, and at a few meters away from the wizardmon). She had finally arrived to the foggy area guided by her D-arc and foolishly attempted to use magic to help this fellow magician in the fight against what she thought was the legendary demon lord she believed came to destroy the world. As it was to be expected, her "magic" did nothing and to simulate the effect of crystal magic, she picked a shard of a broken beer bottle and tossed it at the raging beast. Who knew? Maybe she could get lucky and hit the monster in a vital area like right inside his open mouth or one of his eyes .. although that would get her the attention of the monster and unlike the wizard digimon, she wasn't as durable as him.
As for the wizardmon, he couldn't believe that a human was still in the streets at this hour of the day and it was surprising that she even dared to attack the feral digimon. As long the wolf focused in him and not in the human girl, he could still think about how to defeat him, although that apparently insignificant broken bottle glass shark the girl tossed at the monster could invoke his rage.

Fangmon didn't even notice the girl that came around, yelling incoherent words, and throwing glass at him. The weak shards simply ricocheted and bounced off it's skin, not quite landing in the eyes, or mouth, or anything else. The wolf had the wizardmon as a target, and he would not stop for something short of a bullet shot to get to him. Slashing with his claws violently, the monster roared and jumped the wizard again, meaning to pursue with attack even if he dodges - he can't dodge so many blows for long.
- I say die!!!! - the monster roared as he attacked the wizardmon, who was now close, slashing with claws, biting with jaws, and all at the same time. The claws were meant to slash the body and limbs, and the jaws were to gnaw the head off. Blinded by rage, the wolf completely ignored the wannabe wizard girl ... and something more...
A sound of a truck went on somewhere, the brakes squealing. This was no mere random driver, no, that would be too convenient at the time. The vicious fighting, shooting blasts and energy attacks managed to attract attention of ... someone. A lot of someones actually, and the black wan was coming at full speed, all those inside with a determined goal of dealing with whatever emerged from the digital world ... once and for all...
