Episode 2: The Hunt [Closed]

As Jeri slowly began to regain her composure, the first thing she would see would be blood. While her eyes started to follow the trail of it, it would quickly lead them to Perris's leg. Jeri remained on her knees, her jacket somewhat slipping off her shoulders as she held one hand to her heart.

"What did I do?"

Her thoughts raced back to how she had froze in the face of Beelzemon...How this one moment of fear cost her so dearly. Why did she let it happen? Perris could have been...then Kotemon would be...

"I....I...."

It was then that Perris voice reached her, his command of her to run and hide. Feeling tears begining to build, the girl shook her head furiously as she remained on her knees, staring up towards the older teen.

"I...I can't run, there has to be someway I can..."
In mid-sentence, she heard the sound of Kotemon attack connect to its target, causing her gaze to shift from the tamer to the digimon in battle. It was over...already? Jeri slowly stood to her feet as she watched the Sangloupmon slowly disolve into data.

"Black....mind..."

Jeri couldn't see the data disappearing into her shadow as she looked up at Perris with a confused expression.

"Why would he say something like that after being defeated? For that matter...how could one strike defeat a champion like that?"

Perris slowly turned towards Jeri to see that she had regained herself. He gave a sigh of relieve. At least she wasn't hurt...unlike him. But hey, Jeri and Kotemon were both okay. Now all he and Kotemon had to do was finish Sangloupmon....

As Perris turned back towards Sangloupmon and Kotemon, he noticed that Sangloupmon was turning into packets of data. Had they really defeated it already?! No...that was to easy. He looked at Kotemon to ask her but she was tense. "Kotemon! Why are you so tense!"

Kotemon was looking at the packets of data as they went towards Jeri. She had to stop it, she had to do it now or else....Then Perris' voice reached her. She looked at Perris and said, "Perris don't let the data packets get in her shadow! It's an attack! Sangloup will be able to control her!"

Perris listened with horror as he turned towards Jeri. The data was entering her shadow. Perris tried to get up, but had no luck. He fell down to one knee and grabbed the part of his leg that was cut. "J-Jeri....are you still your self?"

Perris listed to Jeri's quiestion and he looked down before saynig, "Jeri.....We didn't defeat him...It was an attack. He's gonna try to take over your body from you shadow!"

Maybe if he attaced the shadow....it would force the Sangloupmon out? He looked at Kotemon and nodded. He then grabbed a card from his pocket and swiped it through his D-arc while saying, "Digimodify! Speed Activate!"

Kotemon started to run towards Jeri as fast as she could. But soon her speed to started to accelrate and she found herself behind Jeri before she knew it. She then flipped her kendo stick and the Platinum sword so that the blade parts were facing Jeri's shadow. She then stabbed the ground were Jeri shadow was hoping that it would do something. "DOUBLE HOT HEAD!" As she called this, both her blades caught ablaze as she stabbed Jeri's shadow.

With reactions that were almost unhuman, Jeri had quickly jumped to the side of the strike, causing her shadow to be moved away before the attack could strike. The girls eyes remained closed, almost as if she were asleep, but as they slowly opened, an evil smirk appeared across her lips.

"Oh Im sorry...I can't have you ruining my fun just yet..."

The girl then removed her jacket from over her shoulders, tossing it to the side of her. It was obvious that this wasn't Jeri talking at all, but Sangloupmon. Though what were his reason for taking over Jeri's body, could it be that he was searching her memories for information, or worse, using her as a shield. In any case, the position was pretty bad for Perris and Kotemon.

"Let see...."

Jeri placed her hands behind her back as she paced back and forth for a moment. Yet her evil stare remained on Kotemon and her tamer the whole time.

"I could kill Jeri, or you can just answer my questions. Oh and please don't try to attack me again. I would so hate for you to miss and actually hit her instead..."

The teen's movements then stopped as she looked up towards the sky while wondering about his regret of something happening to Jeri.

"Oh wait...no I wouldn't...The sight of seeing you strike a friend would be most enjoyable..."

Perris gave a grunt as he listened to Jeri's words....No Sangloupmon's words. He had successfully taken over Jeri's body. Dang, he couldn't attack either, what would happened if he accidently hit Jeri. That wouldn't be good. Dangit! There was so little choices.....and he didn't like them.

Quiestions? He might as well go along with it...He might learn something about the enemy while he was 'answering' these quiestions.... "Go ahead and ask away....."

Kotemon stood ready to protect Perris if need be. She didn't want to attack Jeri and she knew that Perris didn't want her to attack Jeri. This was turning out way worse then she and Perris orignal thought. Why did everything have to go so wrong?!

"Humans being dangerous....What a joke!"

Jeri laughed for a moment, thought it wasn't the more innocent laughter of its original owner. Though it this wasn't Jeri, then where was she? How was it that he was blocking her out from trying to take over? Was her mind so fragile, so weak? In any case, it was happening and it didn't show any sign of stopping.

"Where is Calumon? While searching though her mind I have found that she knows much about him...about all of us digimon. So that must mean you know of him as well..."

As Jeri spoke, she casually walked over to one of the tiny blades that remained from Sangloupmon's previous attack,then, without any sign of caution, he picked it up and placed it's tip over her wrist.

"So where is he?!Talk or I'll make her bleed!"

Perris looked at 'Jeri' as she asked about Calumon. Perris looked down at the ground.... He knew nothing at all about Calumon. How was he suppose to know about him...He was a new tmaer that got his partner today! How was he suppose to save Jeri now!

Perris slowly stood up feeling the sting of his cut go through his whole body. He cringed in pain but did not fall. He looked up at Jeri with tears in his eyes from the pain. "I know nothing of Calumon.....but let Jeri go, please..." Perris moved closer to Jeri until he was right in front of her.

He grabbed her by the side and looked into her eyes and said, "Jeri, I know your in there. Fight it Jeri, don't let Sangloupmon win! Your strong. Please fight back before its to late."

Kotemon was uncomfortable with Perris being so close to the possesed Jeri. She could do anything to him that close, espically since he didn't know anything. He would be of no use and easy to dispose of. She sighed, she had to have believe in Jeri's strength now. She had to, it was the only thing that would keep Perris safe at this point...

As Perris took hold of each side of her, Jeri's eyes for a moment showed signs of actual shock. But this quickly disappeared as she pushed the boy off of her, stumbling back while she glared...

"Don't test my patience human I do not have time for such shows of emotions"

Jeri then gently pricked the top of her own arm, smiling as she saw a small blot of blood rise from her flesh. Then, a small giggle emerged as she looked away from this small event and back towards the tamer.

"But do be happy, I now believe you know nothing of what I seek. In fact, you just gained your partner for only a few hours. Though I will admit...you did give me quite the scare with that little combination..."

The teen then walked over to a tree, leaning her back against it as she smirked towards the duo. "I also know that, you have only just met this girl, so theres no possible way you could know anything about her. Because if you did, you'd know she has no confidence whatso ever..."

A giggle escaped as she gently tapped the side of her head.

"Her memories tell such a cruel tale, one of death, fear, and the inability to let go of the past. A quality all you humans share..."

As the evil laughter continued, the girl removed her back from the tree trunk, walking to the other side of the park while she spoke.

"Did you know...that she lost her digimon partner, due to her fear? Wait...of course you wouldn't...my mistake. But then that is what kill you weak hearted digimon in the end...Your oh so beautiful love of them...makes you soft and easier to kill...

Perris fell backwards as what he did fail to work and he landed on his butt. His cut on his leg grew even more painful as dirt from the surronding area's went into the deepest part of his wound. Perris looked at Jeri with only a soft look, he couldn't be mad at Jeri....after all, it wasn't her.

Perris almost stood up again as 'Jeri' pricked herself with the blade and made herself bled. But he remained sitted, he knew if he tried that again, Sangloupmon would probably do worse to her. So Sangloupmon knew the whole time that he knew nothing of Calumon, but only played with his emotions. How weak of him! He gave a grunt as Sangloup went on and on with itself.

Perris couldn't stand it anymore.....He stood up even with the pain of his leg yelling at him to sit back down. "Shut up about Jeri! You don't know how she felt during the times that your talking about, no one does except her!"

Perris looked towards the ground as the Sangloup conuntied and told him of how her partner passed on. Due to her fear. "But fear also makes us stronger. After all, I was scared of you, but that didn't matter to me, the fear pressed me forward. I knew if I was this scared and i had a digimon, how would Jeri feel about this...." said Perris slowing down in his words before picking up again, "Also the love of our digimon also propell us forward, I admire Jeri a lot. SHe lifes everyday with the grief of losing her partner.... I did not know that she thought it was her fault....but fear is a natural thing that no one can stop! Its natrual, she should not feel ashamed of it, rahter she should remember her partner with all her heart and not let it hold her back....but propel her forward in this world..."

Kotemon nodded at what Perris said as she walked next to Perris. She noticed that her speed had disapperead and the same as her platinum sword....So now they were back to square one, with only one card left....This had just become even harder.

"Very touching....Only a shame that she can't..."

In mid sentence, a single tear slid down Jeri's cheek, causing her to reach up and gently wipe it away. Then, as if she were hit by something, the girl fell to her knees screaming at the top of her lungs. Clasping her hands to each side of her head, she attempted to cover her ears.

"What!? What is this!? So much...noise!"

While Perris and Kotemon would have no idea what was occuring, within Jeri's mind, Sangloupmon had triggered an upburst of memories, of voices from friends, family, and those she had lost. Every voice, stating a certain quote that had somewhat affected her in some way.

"I...I really like you Jeri"

"Oh Jeri...I'd give anything to see you smile again"

"Human life....is meaningless..."

"She should remember her partner with all her heart, and not let it hold her back!"

"Its...all because of destiny..."

Destiny

This one word continued to repeat over and over within Jeri's head, causing the girl's body to rock due to Sangloupmon control becoming weaker. As he rocked forwards, Jeri's digi-vice rolled from within her skirt pocket, landing infront of her. It was then that a flicker of light flashed,this time sustaining itself as a figure began to emerge.

This large being was that of a lion like man, a short-blade laid sheathed at his waist, while his great arms were crossed over his chest. The Leomon then glared towards the girl as he spoke.

"Foolish monster! The human speaks the truth! You know nothing of Jeri!! For she can very well hear your lies, just as clearly as I can!"

As Jeri's eyes grew wide while she stared up at the illusion before her, she then closed her eyes once again as pain streaked through her face. The voices continued...

"For the last time I don't know what that means...

"Argh! Stop looking at me like that!"

"You're a strange little human, you sure your ok?"

"Be strong Jeri, remember...you have a lion's heart.."

Within moments, somewhere within the depths of the girl's thoughts, Sangloupmon was now staring at Leomon. He's growls grew deeper as he saw that the champion digimon was holding an unconcious Jeri within her arms.

"You....you did this..."

Leomon ignored the monster as he looked down into the girl's face. Sadness seemed to linger over him, but he then gently rubbed her cheek with his claw.

" Jeri...Jeri listen to me...You can not live like this forever...Forever dwelling in the past. The time has come for you to move forwards. While I always be with you, you have to rely on more than your memories. You must trust your friends..."

Jeri's eyes slowly began to open as she stared up at the Leomon's face, tears streamed down her cheeks as she slowly lifted her hand up to stroke his mane.

"Leomon..."

"There is something coming, and you must do more than mourn. You must help them, you are stronger than you know you are. I am sure that you will be a great tamer...if you can allow yourself to continue with your destiny..."

As he slowly set her down, her digi-vice appeared within her hand, causing her to look down at it. It was fixed, just like it had been when she first recieved it. But as she turned to look back at Leomon, she found nothing but darkness. She was alone, just her...and the wolf.

"It would appear as though you are alone again...Your guardian has abandoned you and now...I will control your body and roam through this world..."

Jeri closed her eyes as she let herself have one more sad though, but then as she opened them, she quickly glared towards Sangloupmon with a new expression, confidence. Her eyes seemed to pierce right through the digimon, causing him to step back as if she had hit him.

"Im not scared of you! I won't let you...or anything else hold me back again!!"

At that moment, a card appeared within her fingertips, the image of a digi-vice imprinted on its surface.

"This is my life! My home, my friends!, my head!"

It was then that a new voice appeared from behind her. It wasn't as serious as Leomon, more cheerful if anything. But it appeared to be cheering the girl on.

"Thats right! You tell that mutt! You can do it! Together we can stop him!!"

"Jesus! How many people live in your head!?"

Sangloupmon scanned the area, not realizing that Jeri was in the process of sliding the card through the digi-vice. By the time he realized it though, it was too late...

"Digi-Modify!!

"Digi-vice Activate!"

Then, a light from above covered the area behind Jeri, and causing the shocked digimon to back away. But then, the sound of footsteps emerged as a white furred feline appeared beside Jeri. She looked up towards the girl and grinned as she nudged her gently in the waist.

"See...I knew you would come around..."

The Gatomon then looked towards Sangloupmon with a smirk as she tighting her gloves upon her paws. Jeri just stared in confusion. What was a Gatomon doing in her head? For that matter, what did she mean by knowing she would come around? In any case, she didn't feel that this was an issue, in fact, the feline's presence was refreshing, and almost pure.

"Digi-style, digi-grace, digi-power in your face!"

With that, she disappeared in a flash, appearing directly infront of the digimon, her paw reeled back and ready for send off.

"Lighting Paw!!"

As the punch sent shakes up and down the wolf's body, he soon faded into the data, leaving Jeri and the holy digimon alone in her mind...yet, the area had somewhat changed for the better...

At that moment, on the outside, Jeri's eyes snapped open and quickly closed as she fell over onto her side. Yet as this happened, a light began to cover her digi-vice, causing all of its functions to once again come to life. Its screen even showed life as it screen instantly repaired itself.

Why was she screaming! What was Sangloupmon doing to her?! If only he knew....All he could do was watch her in fear as Jeri's scream went through the night sky. His fears grew worser and worser as Jeri remained in the same state for a long time.

But finally her eyes snapped open and Perris moved forwards a bit but stopped himself again. What happens if it was still Sangloupmon....He would contunine to her Jeri....No, it couldn't be anymore, she had a new air around her. Something was diffrent, she herself was diffrent. It was if new waves of feeling was coming from her.

Perris gasped as Jeri fell to the ground before him. Perris held his breath and ran over to Jeri feeling the sting of his cut leg each time. When arrived next to Jeri, her digivice was glowing a brillant light. It was shining. Periis gave a soft smile, so she had won like he knew she would. That was good.

He picked her as delicatly as he could and sat her against the tree so that she could rest with some comfort. He then sat underneath the tree as well looking at the night sky. His first battle was over....and it was a big on at that. He knew that, he looked towards Kotemon with a smile and said, "It looks like our faith in Jeri's strength pulled through."

Kotemon nodded and said, "Y-Yes, I knew s-she could do it...." Kotemon than jumped into a nearby branch in the tree to look around. She then began to scan the area, trying to make sure that no one would distrube the resting teen, as well as her injured tamer.
