~“Fog? Oh no! I'm going to end up on 'Unsolved Mysteries!' ”
The fog was thick…
A slender silhouette had slowly entered the fog. It was racked with a sudden silence in the district, more silent than any other time he had been here. He could not even imagine such a silence as the only thing that sounded off was the sound taps of his shoes as he walked down the street while holding the device that was in his hand. All electronics had seemed to cease function, and not even that catchy tune that played when one crossed the street in the winter had sounded ff.
“T-This…is sort of creepy.”
Him stating the obvious as he had continued down the street. His eyes had shifted left to right as he kept looking towards the radar that had displayed. The red arrow was gone, and the only thing that was there was a blinking light that had been dead in the center, but looking around he had seen nothing. He was quite mystified, perplexed as he had stood there staring forward, looking around, to his sides, behind, and finally in front of him deciding there was nothing unless he looked up.
“Hey! You!”
His eyes to the sky, but upon hearing that sound they had fallen. At his feet, he had found the source of the noise, but as he stood there, he could not believe what he saw and had to stare at it trying to comprehend what it was. “I-is that…a-a plant?!” he had asked as he stuttered before taking a step back. Staring at the small form, he had looked into its eyes as it did not break the eye contact. Realizing the small bulb had seen that face before, it had gasped in realization.
“W-w-wait a sec! You‘re that kid!”
The little bulb had cried out instantly surprising the boy. “That kid?” What kid? There were millions of kids, but “him” in specific? This could not be good, especially since he never seen the strange creature, nothing like it for that matter. The first thought was that it had him mistaken, but the second was what was this thing that was referring to him. Jumping back and throwing back his arms as he etched, signaling himself to run amidst the fog, he had stared at the bulb creature.
“M-m-m-me?!” he had replied nervously, “..w-w-what about me?! Who are you? I-I-I-I mean…what are you?!”
The small creature had glared at him more sharply than before. That question was annoying hearing it from his tongue! That clueless-ness, that ditzy-ness, and that whiney unmanly voice! Everything about him irritated the plant like creature until it finally had snapped as it gathered a mouth full of air and made them into small bubbles that captured the breath. The creature had reached back its head as it readied itself to open its mouth.
“Bubble Blow!”
The creature had fired forth with a mouth full of bubbles that had barraged the boy. Instantly the bursts of air had collected enough to knock him off his feet as he had fallen back upon the street and toppled over. His eyes were in a swirl from the hectic barrage and he had simply stared into the fog dense sky that clouded over as if it was a white pavement of a hazy dream. He was snapped out of that loose minded state however as the next moment he had been bought to by some force dropping on his chest and airing it out.
“Ooph!” he had coughed until he looked up to see his chest, but the small plant with an angry face.
“That‘s for asking dumb questions! I don‘t see how your sister puts up with it! If you were my brother, I‘d kick your butt, but she‘s a nice girl and very patient! You‘re such a ditz! I swear, if you were, like, my brother, I‘d so blow you away!”
Just great, he was being lectured and criticized by a small talking plant, radish thingy. His eyes had sat upon the creature as it spoke and yelled. It had taken him a while to comprehend his words, but after doing so, he had caught up hearing the word “sister” seeing the plant seemed to be aware of his family. It was a startling realization and gasping the boy had no choice but to collect his breath in shock as he sat up so quickly that the plant like creature was quick to bound back and stand on its bottom.
“Wait! Sister? Rosy! How do you know about Rosy?”
“Bubble Blow!”
It happened again. Another barrage of bubbles that sent him bounding back and his body sitting up once more after collecting himself. The flower headed creature had seemed especially upset as it taken witness to something that had dropped out of his pocket. The boy patted at his pants trying to find something, that device, but he had only ended up looking up realizing it was his that he dropped and reached for it quickly collecting it from the flower headed creature.
“H-h-hey! What are you doing with that?!”
What was he supposed to say here? That he specially had kept it from his sister and mother so they would not risk finding it and being in this situation? Besides, he was the only one that seemed to know about the instrument, and this did not seem believable. Explaining would take too long, especially with the impatient little pink creature waiting for him to reply. What could he say? Gathering a lump in his throat and swallowing, his eyes casting towards the creature, he had simply answered saying…
“I-It‘s mine!”
The small ball-like creature had stared at him in utter shock.
The words echoed in the little creature’s head as it stared towards the boy. Silence had between them, it’s mind trying to catch up with the words, and when did, was not a pleasant reality. Long had she sat staring at the beautiful young lady in the picture before, and detested the sight of the loathing violet haired figure that was now laying pathetically before the little creature. Hearing this had caused for that frustrated vein that throbbed on her head to make its magical reappearance.
“It‘s what?! That device…you here…and…”
The creature had seemed unable to gather its words as if it was in disbelief. That vein on his forehead however was enough to show that it clearly was not pleased, and Xenneth knew to etch away as quickly as possible crawling on the ground. The creature had lifted its head quickly as it started to gather its breath from the sheer rage that boiled in on the inside, and its little body had seemed to be slightly larger than before after the intake.
“Bubble-!”
The boy gasped realizing that the creature was going to do that “thing” with the bubbles again. Quickly, he had stood up and begun scurrying towards the end of the block as fast as he could. Cutting a corner quickly, following in his wake, a storm of bubbles had flew from around the corner as they had struck a distant trash can sending it flying. There was no time to ask questions, nor was there time to comprehend what was happening. He had simply ran forth while the little creature was pursuing him hot on its tail.
“Get back here your thief! There‘s no way you own that thing! You must of stolen it from that girl!”
He had to admit, that little creature was a fast hopper.
Either way, that did not solve his current endeavor as eventually he would get tired. His arms were getting weak from the fact a day at work and now an endless night of scouring the town following a map had taken his toll. If he did not get away from the little plant bulb this time, he may not survive if she caught up with him seeing the look on its face was not the most friendly one compared to his usually daily pursuers that ranged from bullies to Hitomi-chan, who most likely had some sort of devilish look in her eyes when she said such strange things to him.
At this point, nothing was in his heart but pure fear from dying by the little body of the pink plant creature.
It had taken a matter of time as the boy had saw to trying to escape the range of the plant creature, however, in time, it had seemed to catch up. Breathless and scared for his life, he had simply stared as it had given him a “dirty” look built from sheer rage. It gritted its teeth so tightly that one could swear that they would shatter if she bit down any harder. His hand raised the as plant like bulb had stared towards him.
”Why?!” she had chanted, ”Why did I have to get paired up with you? I should-”
”P-Please don‘t!”The boy cried out in retaliation towards the plant-like bulb about to fire off another round of bubbles. ”I-I‘m sorry if I have your device thingy or whatever, but I-I didn‘t want to give it to my sister without…without knowing what it does! I didn‘t want anyone to get hurt, so I-I‘m sorry! I don‘t want no one to get hurt! I-I really don‘t want any-”
*Pop, Pop, POP!!!*
The constant popping of bubbles had sounded off through the darkness. The boy had been laid out flat once more, and the form of the bouncing bulb had leapt into the sky only to crash into his chest springing him away as he coughed and gagged. The lone form had glared towards him as it had seemed to stare in a bit of frustration, but at the same time trying to process a thought. How in the world did it get stuck with such a stupid boy? A stupid…thoughtful boy.
”Hey, you!” the bulb-like plant had called out, ”Your name is Xenny, right?” The plant had called out to him as he blinked and pointed to himself in a clueless manner. He had only nodded his head as he tried to reply.
”W-well…it‘s actually Xenneth.” he had replied, ”…b-but my sister calls me Xenny.”
The bulb had pounced towards him only to watch him scoot back. Its eyes had bore into his very soul as if they were about to destroy him from the inside out. That’s at least what he thought for every second he could not breathe while trying to look away from her, but was scared to seeing that’s when she would most likely attack.
”Calm down! I‘m not going to hurt you!” she had noted. ”My name is Yokomon. I‘m a Digimon, and I guess….I‘m you‘re partner.” she had advised. The violet haired boy had blinked at this statement however finding himself puzzled by that statement.
”Digimon? Y-you mean…like, the Card Game, Digimon? O-or like…that T.V. Show?”
The bulb-like creature had thus once again nodded only cause her to let out a sigh seeing he was still so clueless and puzzled about such things. It was a pain seeing it made her mad that he was not so heavily connected with his sister, or at least that’s what the Digimon had thought upon first glance. However, nevertheless, seeing him care seemed to be enough in the meantime and redeemed for something.
”Anyway…take me home with you! I need to stay somewhere for tonight, and I know your house best! I‘ll explain when we get there seeing you‘re most likely gonna give me a barrage of questions!” she had spoke as if she knew him. It was to that fact, she did know a lot about him. If anything, she knew more about him than Rosaline herself could see, but that was only because she knew him out of pure resentment while her affections was tossed blindly to the kind young woman she hoped to be with. It seemed either way would be fine to be with the girl.
”W-well…we may have some trouble,” he had counted, ”…you see, I fell out my window, and I might not be able to get back into my house.”
Typical. She was right. This boy was a total klutz. Hearing that, Yokomon had pursed her lips bottling in her anger like a top that could cork the world’s most raged red heat. She had counted to three, breathed, and let it all go. After that, she had lifted her head as she had opened her eyes letting the device in Xenneth’s palm react to her very body as it soundly had begun to vacuum in a sound flow of data and then started to unleash it in waves.
_ _ _ _Commencing, Digivolution!
The data had raveled around Yokomon had her little body had closed the sapling like spout on its head and then curled it. It’s body had grown to a length until it had begun to represent a series of roots and floral like hands.
”Yokomon, digivolves to Floramon!”
The light that basked the side of the street had come to an end, and for the first time, the boy had noticed that the fog was gone, and with it, the form of Yokomon. His eyes had laid upon the larger form before him that had given him an empty stare as he looked on from head to toe. Eventually, the only feature he had remembered was that throbbing vein that returned to the noggin of the flower-based Digimon as it scowled with a differing voice.
”Will you stop staring at me like that! Sheesh!”
He had jumped back in surprise as he had looked towards the creature. Surely, it was definitely the same individual, but now a different form.
”Oh! S-sorry, umm…Y-Yokomon!”
”It‘s Floramon now, stupid!”
The vein was throbbing seeing he was so “dense.” His eyes had seemed to stare on in disbelief as he could not comprehend what had happened. The flowered form of the Digimon had begun to walk by him with a sigh letting go of that rage she had once again carried. ”Come on! Just…take me to your house already! We will be able to get in now.”
He was a bit baffled, but he guess he would understand when he would get there. Following behind the Digimon, young Xenneth had seemed to sway his head in a bothersome and hefty way as he did not suddenly seem too sure about learning more about “Digimon” like he intended to. If he was to be asked about them, they seemed like to be a boat load of trouble in his opinion as of now.
