Digimon: Digital Monsters
A new craze sweeps the nation! People of all ages, but especially children, have become fascinated by the game. Digimon! They are little creatures found on hand held devices known as Digivices. They can be raised, trained, and molded as the owner sees fit. But many play the game for much more than just raising a character, but instead for battle!
Digimon were created 15 years ago by Chiaki J. Konaka of the ZONY Electronics Corporation. While the game wasn't nearly as popular back then, it became increasingly more so five years ago after the MMO aspect of the game "Digimon Online", allowed gamers to upload their Digimon into the Digital World for a more interactive experience.
Digimon competitions are held throughout Japan and the winners of these international competitions gain not only immense wealth, but also prestige and fame.
What's more, a few groups children have realized that Digimon is more than just a game. The creatures are real and the Digimon can be brought into the real world! A secluded computer at the Nagasaki Library in Tokyo will upgrade any digivice which is plugged into it.
Real or not, the Digimon World Tournament is rapidly approaching! Competitors from all over Asia have centralized near Tokyo and prepare to take part in this battle to be the best Digimon Tamer!
