Betamon watched as Hyokomon was knocked into the water like one of those old guys at the dunk-n-booth. Finally his partner was getting things right by using cards that actually helped it in a fight. "Continue doing things like that and we can stay a team." The words had a selfish and rude attitude to them, but Betamon had a point that using cards carelessly would lead to him getting his butt kicked.
"Maybe you should just learn to adapt to any little change in a situation. You'll be a better fighter if you can do that. "Hiro didn't like being criticized by someone who was not strong enough to win a fight without his help anyway. It wasn't like he was a complete expert at how to use Digimon Cards in a fight, so Betamon should just give him a chance to learn. "And while your at it, maybe you should continue to attack the enemy before you get beat."
What exactly did the kid want him to do? Attack randomly at the water until there opponent resurfaced or something, while he circled overhead. "Fine then. Water Tower!" The water began to bubble up right before a pillar of water shot up and began to move along the surface toward Hyokomon.

Another unexpected attack. His fate seemed more and more certain as the pillar of water rammed right into the small digimon, knocking him back onto the beach. Coughing and gasping for breath, the small bird could feel its frame break. The physical appearance of the digimon blurred in and out of focus, indicating just how weak he was becoming. How could he lose? This world couldn't be that different? Did humans really have this much power?
Rising slowly to it's feet, the chick lifted it's blade from its cover once again, holding his position as he stared towards the Betamon. The foe was indeed powerful with his tamer at his side. Perhaps alone, he would have stood more of a chance. But even faced with death, Hyokomon wasn't going to lay down and die. Instead, he took the sky once more, soaring towards the fish like digimon as fast as his weak wings could take him.
"To the Death! This will be the final hour of Hyokomon!!! Cleaving Cut!!"

"Stop this nonsense!"
Suddenly a small child-sized white digimon ran at an unusual speed and put himself between the betamon and hyokomon just at time to block the blade attack with his darkness powered lunar claws. The edge of the blade might've cut through the claws under normal circumstances, but the chick digimon was not strong enough to pull such incredible feat and so he was repelled with none of the digimon receiving any damage.
"Miiiir, don't leave me behind!"
His partner, the girl who believed herself to be a magician, appeared running as fast as she could after the lunamon, the speed card used to power up the digimon still carried by her hand.
"Why are both of you fighting? Can't you see that from pointless deaths nothing will be gain?"
The lunamon had been patrolling the nearby city area next to the beach in an effort to seek for lost digimon along his partner Mistral and his persistence bore fruit as they detected the emergence of a digimon in the beach, they were fortunate to find that the spirited away digimon was still alive and could be saved, so not thinking twice, the lunamon requested to his partner to increase his speed to stop the battle before something regrettable happened and that's how they ended involved in this incident.

Hiro watched as the water tower hit the enemy with full force, which also appeared to have caused the Hyokomon to begin to phase out of existence or something. He didn't have long to contemplate this as the bird was coming in for another attack with its sword. Looked like a final assault to him, which meant that it probably had more power than any of the other attacks. "Alright Betamon, let's end this fight as quickly as possible."
"I agree. It is time to end this with one final attack. Electric Sho...." His attack was cut off by the entrance of a new Digimon that looked like one of those ceramic bunnies. Whatever it was, Betamon did not like the fact that it was interfering in a fight between two warriors. It needed to be taught a lesson of some sort that would make it remember to mind it's own business."What do you mean nothing to gain? Once I destroy the pipsqueak, I will absorb it's data so that I can obtain more power, so just get lost."
Hiro was not sure where the other Digimon had come from, but it was really annoying him. He looked at his digivice to see who the new enemy was and what it could do. "It seems to be a Lunamon. Another Rookie and it's Data type. Main thing to worry about is it's Lunar Magic attack. I think it is time for another card. Digimodify! Hawkmon's Feather Strike Activate!"
Betamon felt some of the feathers on it's momentary wings to become bent and sharp as the card took effect. "Alright, let's end this with a double-edge attack. Feather Strike!" The aquatic Digimon flapped it's wings at the enemy which sent two simultaneous feather boomerangs at the two enemies, and since aiming a boomerang only mattered about curving it around the enemy so they are struck from behind. He wondered if his enemies knew about such tactics.

Hyokomon looked towards the Lunamon with a blank expression, unsure of how to react to this interruption. Why did she stop their battle? What did she mean no gain? A warrior's mission was to fight, there was no real explanation to it. His gain was knowledge, the ability to take on new situations with what he had learned and increase his chances of survival. This world was all about who was stronger and how to keep on living. Did she really believe their fighting held nothing?
The small bird was about to say something when he noticed an attack extend from the Betamon's wings. As it moved around them, the bird realized that he'd seen this tactic before. It was similar to another digimon, a Hawkmon. While it may have appeared to miss them, it was coming back. Did Betamon really not care that there was another digimon in this fight other than him? It was supposed to be one on one, this Lunamon had just put herself in harms way.
"This doesn't bold well...."
Swiftly knocking the bunny down with a hard headbutt, the bird digimon drew his sword to be deflect the one wing, but was unable to block the other that came alone side it. Within moments, the creature fell to his knees with a smirk.
"Honor holds no meaning for some....Shame....and so....I die...."
With that, Hyokomon dissolved into data, his physical form disappearing completely.

"I know that data is needed to become stronger, but can't you wait until you naturally gather the data? Those pointless deaths for power has to end!"
It was a painful truth, that the digital world was a "big fish eats small fish" one, but it was also true that such brutal law based off the survival of the fittest could be defied if only all digimon learned to get along and simply live their lives in peace instead of living only to fight and evolve.
The lunamon thought that reasoning with the betamon was possible, but he listened not to the words spoken and with malice invoked the power of hawkmon, once more modifying his own body for the sake of power at the expense of others.
The lunar bunny was not an newbie to battles and was ready to block the incoming attack. Alas, the hyokomon, who proved to be more reasonable than the betamon, sacrificed his own life to protect the lunamon by pushing the pearl white digimon away from the harmful attack and taking the hit by himself. Such pointless sacrifice ... such waste of life for nothing ... the lunamon failed to save the spirited away digimon and could only watch as the samurai chick's body fragmented into the data sustaining his existence.
ERROR, the batamon committed a terrible error when he decided to attack without even thinking about how much pain he was bringing to any friends and family the hyokomon might have ... why, why he couldn't understand that all life is precious and worth protecting? IF he was such a simple minded bully being just a rookie, when he evolved he would become worse, so he deserved to be punished and learn from his mistakes.
"Poor Hyokomon ... the least I can do for him is to protect his passing away and let him return to the cycle of reincarnation. Mistral, please use your magic of change"
By the time the Hyokomon passed away, the lunamon's tamer Mistral finally reached the battlefield and held in her hands her digivice and a shinning card radiating with the brilliance of hope, a symbol of the bonds that should never be severed between friends and those who wishes to protect and those protected.
"Magical miracle transformation, let Mir become a powerful magician of justice!"
The delusional tamer said the magical words and slashed a card through her D-arc, causing the lunamon shine with the light of evolution. It was a power born from the desire of one who wishes for peace ... and wishes to teach those who disrespects life a lesson that they would better not forgive.
Once the light disappeared the lunamon was replaced by the magician digimon wizardmon. Due a previous encounter with a fangmon he lacked of the magical wand which enhanced his magical powers, but he was by no means as weak as a gatomon missing her holy ring, he still packed a powerful magical power that would make other champions tremble in fear.
"No one will not absorb the hyokomon's data. If you value your life, leave, or else I cannot guarantee your safety because I will protect the data until it returns to the digital world."
The betamon would not life for long if all he thought was about absorbing data to become strong; digimon like him represented all that is wrong in the digital world and if he were to try to absorb the data, he would taste the bitterness of defeat and would learn hopefully a lesson he would never forget.

Betamon and Hiro watched as Hyokomon took the attack, but saved the ridiculous bunny. It had managed to block one of the sharpen feathers, but the second one came to fast for it to deflect. They watched as it broke into data while spouting off something about honor, which Betamon ignored. If Hyokomon and Lunamon wanted to keep the other alive, then death was going to be the end for one of them no matter what they dead.
Everything seemed to be going good until Betamon started going for the data, and the bunny decided to transform into something else and protect the data. The first thing Hiro noted was how the girl used the card. She seemed to think that she had magical powers, which in a sense was true given the fact that she was able to use cards to help a monster, but Hiro believed that she thought she was a wizard just like her partner currently was. He wasn't about to gain the reputation of beating up on disturbed girl, which was the equivalent to the double negative that his English teacher destroyed his fellow students for.
"Alright buddy. If you think I am just going to leave without that data, then you are sadly mistaken. Water Tow...." A simple cough from Hiro cut off the ending of the attack that Betamon really wanted to do against the Sorcerer's Apprentice wannabe. The amphibious Digimon looked at his partner with this rather annoyed look that asked why he was stopping him. "We are going, Betamon. There is no need for the data of a weak Digimon. It will only hurt you in the end, and trying to take the data of a psychotic Digimon will just make you just as crazy."
Hiro began to walk away without even looking to see if Betamon followed or not, but the sound of small feet hitting the ground reassured him that his partner was not a complete idiot. "Maybe next time we meet, we'll have a one on one fight to see who's partner is stronger, but until then fairwell Mistral."
