Hyogamon's first moments in the digital world, were quite dull. He had expected someone to appear to fight, but the whole time he was left completely alone, and utterly bored. Worse yet, the climate here wasn't even to satisfaction. The autumn air was cool, but this icy digimon needed cold.
With no one to fight, he spent his time snow punching the ground, covering it in a layer of snow. Wasn't perfect, but it made him feel a little more at home. When the digital field finally disappeared, he had a nice circlular patch of snow, surrounded by leaf covered ground. Well, it'd be hardly worth his time to cover the entire forest in snow, and it didn't appear that there was anyone around. He decided to take his boredom out on the trees instead, raising his ice club and striking them with it. "Ice cudgel!"
The palmon had a few reasons to be happy: Despite the bad beginning her training sessions had, now she was in fact enjoying the fighting lessons of big sis Renee and slowly was losing her shyness towards battle and the arrival of autumn meant that all the nice plants were going to sleep and everything was going to be covered with leaves which would travel everywhere gently carried by the wind.
"Brr ... It's getting so cold ..."
Indeed, it was a really nice day ... although it was getting a bit more cold than usual; an unusually cold air current came from neutral territory that belonged to no one of the forest denizens and it was chilling the air and lowering the temperature of the palmon and renamon's territory, in fact some snow particles brought by the chilling wind were starting to gather on the trees and flowers and a thin layer of snows now covered them.
"Big sis Renee is busy doing her patrolling route right now, looks like it's time for detective Mirei to find what's the cause of this coldness "
Poor, silly palmon, due her silly and exaggerated imagination she thought that maybe a gang of penguins or santa clause appeared in the forest because she read about them in the books from the Hitoehi sisters. Alas, what she found was nothing exactly a penguin: several rows of trees were completely frozen solid, the grass and the flowers the drowning in snow and what's more, a large mean-looking digimon was in the middle of the disaster zone, smashing those poor trees and shattering them into pieces of ice-covered wood.
"S-stop hurting the forest!"
Mirei didn't even bother to think twice and immediately announced her intentions to stop that eco-terrorist. It would've been a lot more smarter to look for big sis renamon, but the palmon was a friend of nature and just like it happened when a dorumon and a dracmon fought in the middle of the forest, she automatically got involved in the incident ignoring any common sense, and once again, she got herself dragged into a dangerous situation only because she wants to protect the beauty of the forest.
Whack, smash, pummel. Each swipe of his ice club against the trees came with a satisfying crack as the tree froze and broke under the force of each strike. It was nothing like like smashing the skulls of some pathetic weakling digimon, but it still gave him a rush. No being however strong stood a chance against his icy attacks!
However, Hyogamon's fun attacking the trees was soon interrupted by the shouts of... a palmon? Hyogamon stared down at the small plant digimon in disbelief, before he broke out laughing. "You. You little pip squeak, think you can order me around?" The Hyogamon chuckled. What a joke! Well, he couldn't say he didn't enjoy a good laugh before smashing his enemies. He took a few steps toward the Palmon. "Well if you don't want me smashing the forest, then I'll just have to smash you! Ice cudgel!" He roared, swinging his ice club at the Palmon.
This was bad, the hyogamon was even more vicious than the dracmon and dorumon combined, he didn't care at all about the situation nor tried to justify his actions. In fact, he even felt proud for what he was doing and wanted to have some "fun" at expense of the little plant digimon.
The palmon was startled by the sudden attack and the first thing she did was to immediately extend her ivy fingers to climb on a tree's branch. She almost fell from it due how it was frozen solid and covered with ice, but managed to keep her balance.
"Why are you being so mean? The trees and flowers are our friends!"
She tried to reason again with the ice ogre, hoping that deep down he was simply having a bad day and really was a nice digimon, because everybody had bad days and did mean things, like her big sis Renee, who once was bad but now was one of the nicest digimon in the universe.
Hyogamon's attack had missed, but it was no matter. The trees wouldn't save this plant digimon from being turned into a chopped vegetable! He however, could only laugh as the Palmon questioned him. This digimon was so freaking naive, it was a wonder it lived long enough to even encounter him. "The trees and flowers are nothing but target practice, and so are you! Throwing ice!" The Hyogamon growled, throwing several icicles at the Palmon. If the palmon got hit, there'd be no way it'd be able to keep it's grip on the icy tree branch. If she dodged, then she still was likely to slip. Either way the Palmon would end up falling where Hyogamon would be waiting to crush the little weed!
Oh noes, this was worse than expected, her incredible cute moe moe kawaii charming personality proved to be completely useless against the ice ogre and now icicles threatened to make of the heroic palmon some cold salad. Seeing the incoming projectiles, she opted for jumping from tree branch to tree branch using her extending claws as swinging rope. Alas, while she managed to avoid the ice arrows with her swift swinging abilities, eventually her ivy fingers slipped when trying to reach another tree branch and she fell on the snow-covered ground, where she was rather helpless due how ill fitted were her root-like legs to walk on snow.
"Big sis ..."
In this moment of danger all she could think was in her big sis Renee coming to her rescue. This was her very first battle, but it was against a foe who had absolute advantage on her as unlike the steel balls of dorumon, the icicle shards of hyogamon would shred her ivy claws were she to attempt to capture them, and it would be absolutely suicidal to try to capture his ice club, the enemy was way stronger and she would be the one captured in the case she attempted to do it. She was running out of options and hid behind a tree, hoping that somehow the hyogamon failed to see when she went into hiding and in the worst case, wishing that the tree was strong enough to shield her from harm; later she would repay the tree's kindness by planting more tree seeds.
The Hyogamon sneered as the Palmon cried out. Every whimper was music to his ears, and he planned on making this plant squirm. He'd be having chopped palmon salad tonight! Even as the Palmon tried to hide behind a tree, it was useless. There was no running or hiding from him! He swung his club at the tree so hard, it smashed right through and with a deafening crack, the tree fell, exposing the Palmon. "Say goodbye! Ice cudgel!" He roared and took another swing at the Palmon. However, before his attack could land, a metal ball struck his club unexpectedly, deflecting his attack.
The past few days were very much a blur to the Dorumon. The only things he did were scavenging what little food he could find to sustain himself, and otherwise he had spent the last couple of days just aimlessly wandering the forest. His first thought was to find Renee, but the fox was more difficult to track down that he had initially anticipated, so his search had come up with nothing so far. He had to keep looking though. He no one else to turn to now.
Dorumon's body tensed as a gust of cold wind suddenly blew through the trees. It was autumn and it was expected to get colder as the days went by. However, this wind was unusually cold. Further concerning was a sudden cry, in the direction the cold wind had come from. Dorumon sighed. Ordinarily he'd be more inclined to ignore such a call. It didn't concern him after all. However, the last couple days were utterly dull, and a good fight would probably help bring his spirits up.
So he ran in the direction of the cries, and soon found a Hyogamon with his club raised over Palmon. He then fired a metal cannon attack at the Hyogamon's club to parry it's attempted strike on the Palmon. "If you aren't going to fight back, then run away!" Dorumon barked at the Palmon. He wouldn't have that plant interfere in another battle. He couldn't. The palmon would be risking both of their lives if she tried to stop his attacks again!
Crack! The tree was no match for the ice club and the impact was so hard that it was split in two, the falling upper part of the tree barely missing the palmon, who was shivering, sitting on it's lower part. She then stand up to try to run away but it was too late, the enemy knew where she was and at such a close range he was bound to accurately hit the palmon real hard with that powerful ice club of his. Luckily a miracle happened and a well timed metal ball that came out of nowhere impacted in the club, slightly changing it's collision course and forcing the hyogamon to completely miss his attack as the ice club passed only a few millimeters above the flower on the palmon's head.
"Ehh??"
The voice from her savior felt familiar and a quick look around revealed that who helped her was none other than the dorumon who once enjoyed throwing metal balls at the poor trees of the forest. The palmon thought that maybe he learned from his mistakes and decided to protect the forest too, after all it was his home as well.
Now what could she do? The dorumon ordered her to run away if she wasn't planning to fight, but if she didn't that hyogamon was going to destroy the forest and the dorumon. She asked to herself what would big sis Renee do in this kind of situation and decided that she was going to fight not for her own safety but to protect the poor trees and the rest of the vegetation of his place.
"I'm fighting too"
Said that, she ran into a safe position, not too close nor too far from where the ice ogre was, and for bonus points, now that foe was sandwiched between those small digimons, giving them ample opportunities to strike him were he to show his back to one of them
Dorumon had been certain he'd be fighting this alone, and part of him felt like he'd have to fight against the Palmon. After all, in their first encounter the Palmon had been so hung up on not hurting the forest that she blocked his attack and allowed an obvious threat to go free just so the forest wouldn't be hurt. Surprise surprise though, the Palmon announced she too was ready to fight and had even moved to the opposite end of the field to be in position to strike when the enemy's back was turned.
Fortuneately he had the Hyogamon's attention now. No doubt he was ticked about being blindsided. "Hey, hey! Want some real fun, come and get me!" The Dorumon taunted. He kept his legs tensed though, ready to dodge the second the ice ogre attempted to attack.
