Mako and Ai looked through the digivice, and watched as the Dorumon too digivolved into an Airdramon. "That's not fair! They copied us!" Mako complained, crossing his arms in anger. "Come on Devidramon, show them who's boss!" He said, cheering his partner on. He'd beat this digimon no matter how big it was!

Seeing the turn of events, Ai was going through her cards again. The Dorumon had gotten stronger, so Devidramon needed to get stronger too. She had quite a few cards that would do the job, but there was one card that would really get the job done. "Digimodify, black gears activate!" She said, swiping the cards though.

Meanwhile, Devidramon was struck again by the Airdramon's wing cutter attack, the blade sharp bursts of air doing quite a bit of damage to him. The water may not be restricting him now, but he was a large target and the trees were now being quite restrictive. Then out of no where a black gear struck him, burrowing right into his back. Instead of hurting though, he felt his strength increase substantially. The secondary effect was void though, as he was a virus type and wasn't affected by the berserking effects of the gears. "Let's see you take one of these! Crimson claw!" Devidramon roared, swiping at the dragon with his claws again.

Amber was becoming quite annoyed right now, as the Devidramon received yet another power boost, and once again bringing his power a level up above Airdramon's. No matter what she did, it seemed the devidramon and his tamer were a step ahead of them. She looked through her remaining cards. She had a copy-paste card that would copy the effects of the cards currently affecting Devidramon, but Airdramon didn't have the immunity the Black Gears' berserk effect. The power boost would be pointless if her digimon couldn't think clearly enough to attack effectively.

The Devidramon launched a new attack, and Amber quickly swiped her teleport card. Airdramon vanished in flash, avoiding Devidramon's attack, then reappeared directly behind him. "Air Cutter!" Airdramon roared, flapping his wings and firing two more bursts of blade sharp air point blank at the Devidramon's back side.

Devidramon cursed as the Airdramon vanished under his claws, causing him to miss completely. He stumbled forward as he was hit from behind, the blades slicing his back and wings, tattering them more than they already were. Impmon breathed heavily. He had a strength advantage right now, sure, but the Airdramon had already landed quite a few attacks on him and endurance wise, he was fairly weakened. He may have had the strength, but if he didn't land a few good hits and get this over with quick, this might not end well for him.

Mako and Ai watched on through their digivice, and they could tell Devidramon was exhausted. "Don't give up Devidramon! Keep fighting!" Mako urged him on. Both of them knew it would take more than cheering to get him to win this fight though. Ai searched her deck, and swiped her muscle bean card. This would bring Devidramon back up to strength!

And so it had. Devidramon glowed slightly, as his strength returned to him. After a brief moment he had gone from nearly beat, to feeling like a million bucks, and here he was standing against an Airdramon that was still showing signs of exhaustion. "Black bite!" Devidramon snarled, launching forward to bite into the serpent dragon digimon.

Airdramon had been feeling fairly confident, despite the Devidramon's power boost earlier. It may have been stronger, but it also was exhausted. All he had to do was land an attack or two and this digimon would be put down, and justice would be served. That confidence vanished though, when the Devidramon suddenly began to glow, and a moment later it no longer looked exhausted, and soon launched a new attack.

Airdramon howled as the Devidramon sunk his poisonous teeth into his body, before throwing him to the ground. By now the water that had flooded the area earlier had disappeared, but that was his least concern. He was feeling very weak now, and was becoming steadily weaker by the minute. "You'll have your punishment one day. You'll pay for betraying digimon kind." Airdramon snarled, before summoning what was left of his strength to get himself back in the air and flee, grabbing Ambermon as he passed her and disappeared into the woods.

Devidramon merely snorted at the Airdramon's parting words. Sure, he didn't have a picture perfect past, but even he wasn't that much of a nut case. He had teased partnered digimon for having tamers, yeah, but at least he had attached himself to a tamer at the same time. That Dorumon was just an idiotic hypocrite.

He then glanced around. There was no way he would be able to move around without catching anybodies attention, so he was pretty much stuck here for the time being, hoping no one came along. "I'm alright guys. That Dorumon and his tamer are gone, but I won't be able to escort you back to your group. Can you get there on your own?" He asked, knowing they were likely still watching him through their digivice.

"We can Devidramon. Thank you for protecting us!" Ai said sweetly. She then pocketed her digivice and began heading back. She doubted their group had gone too far from where they had left them. Someone likely noticed by now anyways and they were probably looking.

"No problem kid." He said, sighing contently. That Dorumon had rocks for brains. He didn't choose Mako and Ai as his tamers for power. They were the best friends he ever had. Those two were just two brain dead to realize that.
