Wandering through the woods at night. It wasn't one of Brittany's brightest ideas, but it was one of the only places she knew would be safe to talk to Veemon. Not only that, but it was where the digimon lived for the time being. Since she was now living with her grandmother, she couldn't bring the digimon home with her. The older female was home all the time, and if she managed to spot him, she'd likely have a heart-attack. That, and with her strict demeanor, Brittany couldn't really go out as much as she had before. So this seemed like the best arrangement, at least for now.
"So how is living with your grandma? Is it as bad as you thought it would be?
"Shes strict, demanding, and a nut case when it comes to traditions. I'm barely able to leave the house other than for school and my training at the theater...."
Taking a bite out of the piece of fish that was provided within the box lunch given to him by Brittany, the digimon blinked as he could see that his tamer wasn't exactly having much fun. He knew how much she wanted to do things that she enjoyed, and that her family prevented her from doing them. After the fire, she had to confess about her kendo lessons and was forced to give them up. This left her with only her Geisha training and school. It just seemed like a weird situation. But what could she do? Her dad was out of town for the majority of the time, and her mother seemed to be in full agreement with this lifestyle.
"So why not just move out into the woods? We can have a blast out here! Course, you gotta get your own tree..."
"Thanks for the offer. But I think I'll just bear through my suffering at home..."
Smiling as she rubbed the creatures head, Brittany enjoyed the time she spent him with him. The digimon was indeed her opposite, but then opposites attracted well.

Poor foolish human girl... Poor digimon... Weren't they told that wandering at night in a forest is dangerous? Not to mention scary? At night many creatures awake, and many new sounds fill the air. Shivering of the leaves, wind, a screech of a night bird - all these sounds are amplified at night, which makes them particularly haunting.
There, somewhere in the bushes, some bird flapped it's wings, flying from one tree to another, but was it really a bird? Maybe not a bird, but a bat? Perhaps, perhaps not. In reality, it was something far, far worse than a mere bird... And our young heroes were about to find out exactly what it was, feel it on their own skins, so to speak...
They didn't know they were watched by someone ever since they entered the forest. Of course, how could thy know it? Whatever creature that was, it hid itself up in the air, and dim moonlight was not enough to help spot it, not to mention the sounds of the forest at night masked the sounds of it's movements...
- There you are, my pretties... All alone in this scary dark forest? Pity... But do not worry, I am a friend... Yes, a friend... I will help you... - a strange, whispering voice was heard, it echoed in the surrounding, making it impossible to find out where it was coming from. It weird, yet so relaxing, almost ... hypnotizing.
- Now is the hour When frogs and thrushes Praise the world From the woods and rushes Sleep, my love Sleep, my only Deep in the dark...
A weird lullaby came, making everyone who heard it so very sleepy and tired. Little did they know that the singer was not quite a benevolent creature, it was a Demidevimon, a digimon, who used these Evil Whispers on every lone wanderer he met, and, after they fell asleep, made their sleep ... eternal...

It didn't take long for the duo to stop moving, looking around them as they heard the whisper upon the wind. It was strange, there was no way of telling where the voice was coming from, yet it seemed to be so close. But there was one thing that they seemed to be in mental agreement upon, it wasn't a friend. Veemon held his guard as he moved in front of his tamer, eyes continuing to scan the area, yet slightly dropping as he seemed to be struggling to stay away. Just what was this melody? Why was it making him so tired?
"Brit....You..you have to stay awake...There's something about this music...."
Brittany nodded, though she slowly started to feel rather light headed. Falling to her knees as her eyes remained half open, she turned the the noises that seemed to come from the bushes, blinking as she desperately fought against her fatigue. But soon, the girl found herself falling upon her side, eyes closed in sleep. Thus, the blue digimon was now alone.
"Crap! Brit! Oh man...."
Falling to one knee, the blue dragon gritted his teeth as he wasn't sure what to do here. There was no way he could attack something that he couldn't see.

Demidevimon watched with amusement as his melodies worked on the unsuspecting human child. The veemon proved to be more resilient to the effects of the singing - he was a digimon after all, and not a weak, fragile human. But the whispers did enough - the tamer was having sweet dreams, giving the scourge enough time to deal with the digimon.
- Did you like my singing? I have a gorgeous voice, now don't I? This human girl is your friend, isn't it? How precious... - the demidevimon said in a giggling tone, landing himself upon a branch of a tree. There were weird, insane fires in his eyes, and a malicious smirk on his face. The things were about to get very cruel, and he was going to enjoy every moment of it.
- And good friends are always ready to ... take one for the team, shall we call it? You look like a good friend though... - the spiteful creature giggled and extracted a syringe full of strange, poison-looking liquid. - This toxin ... is lethal to humans, poor saps, they are prone to all sorts of damage. However, digimon are more resilient to it's effects. They just get weaker, and weaker, and weaker ... until... What if I ... say, accidentally throw one or two, hmm? Let us test your power of friendship! Demi dart! - the cunning villain tossed a few syringes, but not at Veemon, at the girl...

Veemon eyes widened as he saw the syringes fly, moving in front of his tamer as he took the darts directly in the chest and shoulders. The creature was right about that much, they were indeed making him feel weak. But it was better that then killing his tamer. Glaring towards the flying bat as he grit his teeth to try and fight through the pain, he looked back towards the girl to see she was still sleep. It seemed as though he would have to hold this guy off himself for now. But how long could he do that in his weakening state?
Guess Im gonna find out...
Swinging his arms back behind him, he launched himself forwards in attempt to ram in his head directly into the DemiDevimon with a Vee-Headbutt. His attack wouldn't be strong,, but if he could get the creature on the ground, he might be able to do some damage.

- D'aaaw, you're a real friend, now aren't you, my deary? But ... what will happen to her if you would get killed? She would be perfectly defenseless against a syringe... She would die! But we cannot allow that to happen, now can we? - demidevimon giggled, when he saw his ruthless plan working - the veemon took all the hits, and that should have made him considerably weaker. It was of no surprise that he launched himself in a charge, a desperate and a useless one.
- Ah, how dare you! - the evil digimon gasped when the veemon rammed him, but was, non the less, prepared to retaliate: - Bat flutter! - he exclaimed and used his wings to slap the enemy, when he was at point-blank range.
- If you value her life more than your own, perhaps we would make a deal... The girl will live, but you die. Simple as that - her life, for yours. I do not need to kill her anyway once I have your data - I have no use in a dead human... So, what do you say, chump? - demidevimon asked, making a bit of a distance between himself and veemon...

As the wing collided into his face, Veemon was sent reeling back, sliding along the ground before rising back up to his feet. This was getting him no where. He couldn't fight in his condition, but what choice did he have? There was no way he was going to give up. That suggestion was out of the question. Frowning as he continued to listen to the demonic bat, the blue dragon rushed in once again, frowning as he leaped into the air in attempt to attack once again.
"I'll give you my answer! Vee-Punch!"
Brittany slowly began to stir as the action continued around her. Opening her eyes slightly, she realized that Veemon was no longer at her side. This sight alone was enough to push her up into the position where she was on her knees. Just how in the world had she fallen asleep? Where did that melody come from? Why was she asking herself all these questions when they didn't matter. Feeling groggy from her slumber, the teen slowly got to her feet as she looked around.
"Where is Veemon?"

- Your choice. Then I will make sure both your and your friend's death will be long ... and painful. - the evil creature replied, quickly evading the weary blow of the veemon. The poison was taking effect, making the digimon weaker and weaker. But maybe not weak enough? A couple more syringes would have secured it's defeat. Besides, there was no time to lose - the girl was slowly awaking from slumber...
- Attachments make you weak, veemon. You already took some hits trying to protect that nobody. How many more will you be able to take, huh? Demi Dart! - the demidevimon shrieked as he flew to the air, having the girl in sight once more, and launched three deadly syringes at her. This trick worked once, why wouldn't it work again?

Veemon looked back towards Brittany, seeing where the intended target was. He hated that the creature was so right about this, but what else could he do? He didn't have any attacks that could really stop such an assault. Plus, Brittany didn't even seem completely aware of the situation yet. Dashing at top speed, Veemon tackled the girl to the ground, taking two of the needles to the back as he groaned in pain. He then looked towards his tamer as she looked at him with a look of concern, blinking as he smiled slightly.
"Ok...Im gonna feel that in the morning...He he"
Brittany find this funny. She wasn't sure how many attacks the dragon had taken for her, but he wasn't looking as strong as he usually did. Frowning as she stared up towards the flying bat, her gaze then returned to Veemon as he slowly rose back up to his feet. Stumbling slightly as he could feel his strength being sapped away with each moment, the creature held his ground as he pointed towards the Demi-Devimon.
"What!? Is that all you got!? Some darts and songs? Why don't you come up with something..something new!"
Brittany stood behind him as she glared towards the digimon that had hurt her partner.
"Your gonna pay for what you've done. Veemon....are you...."
"Don't even worry about it....I'll manage..just do it!"
The girl nodded as she drew a card from out her side case, drawing her D-arc with her other hand as she scanned it quickly through its think slot at its side.
"Digi-Modify!
Name: Metal Armor Duration: 10 Posts Color: Gold Effect: Allows a Digimon to Armor Digivolve for the Duration of this card's effect
Activate!"
Within moments, the Veemon began to glow under a bright light that seemed to fill the area of the forest. But when it faded, a new creature appeared in his place. The tall, armor plated digimon glared towards Demi-Devimon as it aimed its arm up towards him. It was Veemon armor digi-volution form, FlameDramon, and Brittany couldn't have been happier to see him.
"Hope your ready to fry! Flame Fist!"
With that, the digimon fired off a blast of fire from his hand as it flew in the direction of the small bat.

Demidevimon certainly lost his spunk when he saw that the girl managed to swipe a card through her digivice. He knew that humans were able to assist their digimon in such a way, and it usually meant bad news for those who opposed them. He watched in horror as the weak veemon transformed into a whole new digimon - a flamedramon, who had a ranged attack to shoot the bat down.
- Oh man, this is gonna hurt... - the creature muttered when the dragon aimed his arm at him, and launched a devastating fireball. Demidevimon managed to snap out of the paralysis just in time, but didn't manage to avoid it fully - the attack left an ugly, scorched mark on his back, forcing the bat to the ground.
- Heh, I ain't cooked yet... Boo-ya! - the evil monster screeched and jumped into air, even though he had hard time keeping at an altitude, launching all the syringes that were left at the dragon, spraying-like, aiming at the spots not protected by armor. If that wouldn't hit him - well, there still was the girl right behind his back... Maybe that would slow them down enough for the bat to escape - he always was a coward, after all, and would never try to win a fair fight...
