At last she had arrived. The flight over was peaceful enough, but it was a tiring journey none the less. Tala had never known a time where she had to stay in a sitting position for more than five hours. Even her meditation sessions never lasted that long, but maybe the test of her endurance could count as something.
Japan was such an exotic, yet strange land. It wasn't like the land she had left behind her. Far from it. That was what drew her to take such a bold step and agree to the student exchange. Nevermind what risks she was taking in coming to a foreign land. Sometimes taking the path less used often lead to interesting encounters.
It was one of Grandfather's lessons she had taken to heart.
Tala glanced at the note briefly as she walked slowly down the streets of the residential district. "The place should be around here somewhere..."
The place she was looking for in particular was the residence of her host family who had agreed to take the Native American in while she began her studies abroad. She had already spotted several locals and tried to stop to ask for directions, but seeing as they had never seen a Cherokee girl before, it went without saying that asking wouldn't have done her much good.
Tala soon spotted a bench on the sidewalk she was walking along. She took a moment to stop and rest, sitting down while she tried to make sense of where exactly she was. Or at least figure out where or what she should do to go about getting to where she was headed.
"Thlah-tla-ya-gwa-n-ta ha-tlu ga." Tala spoke her native tongue, heaving a confused sigh.
(OCC: The sentence was spoken in Cherokee. Translation: "I don't know where I am")

"What to do...What to do?..."
Hands resting behind her back, Brittany sighed while walking down the familiar street, away from her apartment complex. It was nice to be home and after spending what seemed like hours moving back in, she wanted to just get outside and away from her mother for a moment. As much as she loved her, the constant commands did get old after awhile, especially when they were shouted towards her. The day was just too much to miss it by trying to figure out where she wanted to place the good china.
I wonder if Veemon is ok?
The two of them had come to an agreement. He would remain in the forest and she would simply make sure to come see him every day at a certain time. It was a means of making sure that both of them were ok, and if one didn't show up...then that was the time to worry. It was hard for the dragon to be away from her, but Brittany thought that a location as big as the woods were better than a small closet in her room.
Pulling out her cellphone, she looked through her contacts and sighed as she wondered if maybe calling one of her friends would be the best start for her free time. It was during this that she saw a reminder...a day old one. The young girl kept much of her schedule within her phone, having it remind her of things that she needed to do. It was rare for her to miss one of them, so she figured that maybe the message wasn't too important. Though as her curiosity got the better of her, Brittany pressed the button on her phone, causing the reminder to appear.
It was upon reading it that her eyes grew wide and her mouth agape. She was supposed to be housing her classes international transfer student. Not only that, but she was supposed to have met her at the airport. This choice had been decided a month ago, her mother agreed to it as well. Of course, this was before her apartment had been attacked.
"Oh crap!"
The young girl took off running down the block, looking at her watch as she wasn't sure of the time. It was near evening. There was no possible way the student would stand there for so long waiting. At least she wouldn't if it were her in that position. Sliding to a stop, she glanced around before crossing the street in a dash. How could she have forgotten something so important? Could she really be that busy and off track?
My school is gonna kill me...Hell...Mom will kill me when she realizes I forgot! No wonder she was worried about the good china! She was preparing for guests!
This was why she wanted a license to drive, for now she had to try and catch the bus or the train to the airport. Either way would take time and she didn't have it. Moving past a bench, the girl then stopped as she could of sworn she saw a face that looked out of place. Slowing down, she then looked over her shoulder towards the native girl, blinking as she just stared at her.
Could that be her?

Sitting on the bench gave her the peace she needed to clear her mind. Tala began to debate the different options she had open to her. She could continue to try and search out the residence of her host family on her own, she had a feeling she was in the right place. It was only a matter of looking in the right place.
The other option would be to seek out someone who could understand the limited amount of japanese she did understand and help her out. It couldn't hurt, but finding someone who could would be the hard part.
Tala let out a sigh. At least it was still daylight, there was still time to look around. Maybe even have time to take in a sight or two...
Suddenly, she felt as if a set of eyes were watching him. The Native American girl turned around slowly, looking around her and finally behind her. It was then she saw yet another girl behind her. She looked to be the same age as herself. Only she had short, brown hair with an orange bow tied into her hair. Her clothes looked no different than that of any other girl Tala would meet in the States, but somehow she seemed different.
"Who are you? Do you live around here?" Tala stood up and faced Brittany fully. She had to smile and be friendly, this was the first japanese person she had met upon arriving. Perhaps she was the girl whom she was to stay with during her time here? "I'm Tala, Tala Carver."

It was indeed her, the transfer student. It left Brittany in some what of a predicament, not that she wasn't already in one. But now that she was face to face with her new roommate, she wasn't sure what to say. Hands remaining at her sides, gaze staring directly into Tala as she seemed to be in a good mood. That was a good thing right? It meant that she wasn't too upset at having been left at the airport and then forced to navigate her way here.
This silence lasted a few more seconds before the young girl finally broke down bowed quickly while approaching her.
"Im so so so sooooo sorry! I can't believe I forgot that you were coming today! I'm Brittany Andrea! You're supposed to be staying with my family while you stay here!!"
Smiling slightly as she wasn't sure what else to do, Brittany then extended one hand out towards the girl as she awaited for her to grasp it.
((sorry for the late response))
