Renee only blinked when she heard Khrys's suspicions. She expected her to buy that explanation she gave her, but it didn't work, and the girl raised two valid points. It would get tricky explaining those, but the fox would try anyway, it was either that or telling the truth, and she really didn't have any choice. No, not to the biggest gossiper in the world.
- I could go and look for myself, I just do not want to be chasing ghosts and waste time I could have spent on other matters. That is why I only need a confirmation, nothing more. - she said, knocking her fingers slightly against the table in a rhythmic fashion - a sing she was getting annoyed.
- And I figured I could spare Larry the trouble and look for it myself. The computer doesn't know who is requesting the information, so everything is ought to be fine... - she replied thoughtfully, while looking at the monitor. Khrys was getting uncooperative, this was not good. More questions were ought to come, but Renee had an idea of how to get rid of them once and for all:
- But you're right, I should talk to Larry about this first. Too bad he isn't here though... Hmm, maybe I should look for him... - she said, dialing his cellphone number in a phone. The ring was soon heard, but no response. Larry was still in class, his phone switched off. - Excellent... - she thought and put the phone down.
- Aww, what a pity... He's not on yet. But 'tis so urgent... Guess I'll have to go and seek him out. While I'm away, Would you mind sitting here, ... alone? - the emphasis was made on the last word. Yes, Renee knew how to get what she wants...

Khrys was still a bit bothered by the Renamon's explanation. Sure it would be doing Larry a favor, but if it was that urgent, surely whatever else her partner was doing could wait. She also didn't think he'd be too happy to find out either. Renamon wasn't supposed to be on the computer and well, Hypnos was pretty up tight about digimon on computers. They might suspect Renee is glitched or something and had gone rogue and destroy her for treason! Or maybe just give her a very thorough interrogation and telling off. Either way was trouble, and causing trouble certainly wouldn't be doing anyone any favors.
Then Renee started talking about leaving... her... alone... here. "Alone?" Khrys echoed, her voice unusually high pitched. Fear quickly turned to annoyance the moment she caught on what the Renamon was pulling. "Oh come on, that is just mean!" She scolded, before turning back to the computer and finally hitting the last key.
After a few moments of loading, she was into the database. Khrys quickly navigated through folders and files and data, and tracked down the record the encounter in the northern district four days previous. "Okie, so we have a Fangmon and Wizardmon which were both eliminated. There was also a female teenage human at the scene, who had fled with a Lunamon." Khrys said, reading the notes aloud. "Hey, there's a video!" She pointed out, opening the file.
The video cut in with the van just approaching the scene, just catching the sight of a wizardmon getting mauled by the Fangmon, who eventually exploded into data. As the Hypnos members engaged the Fangmon, there was a just noticeable flash of light from the left side of the screen, but whatever caused it was not visible. Moments later, a girl went by holding a Lunamon in her arms, and not long after the Fangmon had been defeated. The next few moments were little more than the hypnos agents lingering on the scene before finally ending.

- B... both? - she muttered in shock, before the girl switched on the video. Both? It couldn't be? Could it? Impossible! Or ... maybe not. In a few moments the video, recorded by helmcamera of one of the troopers appeared on the screen. Khrys mercifully spared her from watching the unimportant part of arrival, focusing directly on the action.
Renee's only eye twitched at the gruesomeness of the massacre that Fangmon unleashed at poor wizardmon. He practically tore him apart, and the fox just watched. She watched, and kept watching, until the video was over, her body as still and motionless, as a stone statue, and the face was coverew with a mask of sheer horror. Slowly regaining control of herself, she shuttered. There was the answer she sought. Wizardmon was killed. Gruesomely. Just as Renee feared it would happen.
- So... this is what happened... There is no point in seeking him now... - she whispered, taking a few steps back, and collapsing on the nearby chair, closing her eye. She wanted to go away somewhere right now, maybe to the pub, bring the ... news. But she couldn't. There was still Khrys here, and she knew what would happen should she leave. - I'm sorry for fishing out the password out of you like I did. It will not happen again... - she apologized, her voice hollow and empty, devoid of any emotion...

Khrys looked up at Renee. She had expected her to be satisfied, or at least go out and hunt down the Lunamon. If any digimon escaped, it would have been that digimon, though it was likely Lunamon was partnered with the girl. However, it wasn't the case. Instead, she appeared to be downright horrified. Certainly not the reaction of someone who had found what they were looking for. It was not hard to tell that whatever Renamon wanted, it was not to hunt down a possibly loose wild one.
"You're forgiven." She said, trying to sound cheerful, though Renamon's glum demeanor was putting a bit of a damper on that. She stood up and walked over to Renee. She hated to see anyone sad. Ordinarily she'd pry the hell out of someone she found had obviously been lying to her, but even she knew now wasn't the time, and Khrys wasn't an insensitive prick... most of the time. "Come on, hugs!" She said, leaning over and hugging the Renamon.
After pulling away, she headed over to the kitchen. The groceries still needed to be put away, but that could still wait a bit. She filled the kettle and turned it on. While she waited for the water to boil, she began putting away groceries. Milk and eggs in the fridge, cereal in the cupboards, and so on. By the time she was done, it was only moments before the kettle began to whistle and Khrys immediately shut the kettle off. She then poured two mugs, setting them on the dining room table along with milk and sugar and a pair of spoons. "Tea's ready!" Khrys called to Renee.

Renee did not even make a slightest move when Khrys got on with her hugging again. She could have got more reaction from hugging a tree or a statue at the moment - Renee was as still as one of those. The girl's next idea was a bit better though - to make some tea. Yes, tea was good, it calmed nerves. Renee liked tea. Get a grip upon yourself why don't ya? Look at you, an absolute disgrace! One lousy unfortunate thing happened and you're already acting like a drama queen. Bleh. Disgusting. Maybe that's why the original is better than you - she is not such a weak-willed, pathetic rag. - the voice of reason tried to make her act accordingly, and, to a degree, was successful - that inner voice made Renee feel ashamed of her own emotions, again.
Upon coming into the kitchen and taking a sit, she poured the hot water into her cup, placing a small packet of tea in it afterwards. In a few moments the water turned brown, tea-like color, and Renee put two spoons of sugar in it. Just the way she used to. Mixing it with a spoon, she figured she owed Khrys an explanation - it was pretty obvious she lied back then, so it was only fair.
- I was not going to hunt him down. - she said, keeping twirling her spoon in the cup, focusing on it. - The wizardmon you saw on the tape was an informant back at the numemon pub ... and a friend of mine. He disappeared from there several days ago, so I went to look for him. And now he's dead. - she said, stopping fixing the tea, and took the first sip. She sounded calm, for some reason. The creepy kind of calm, that was.

Khrys had dumped quite a bit of milk into her tea, followed by three spoons of sugar. The addition had made the drink rise to the rim of the mug. Very carefully Khrys stirred the drink, until after a while it went from a swirl of medium brown, cream and white, to a uniform creamy color. She then leaned down, taking a small sip from the mug, so it was no longer at risk of spilling to lift it up.
She simply nodded when Renee said she wasn't going to hunt them down. She'd already figured that much out. So the Wizardmon was a friend of hers. "I'm sorry." She said sympathetically. It sucked to lose a friend. Even worse to a death so gruesome. She wasn't familiar with any Wizardmon, and if BlackMonodramon knew, well, he obviously didn't say anything.
"Well, Digimon don't really die. Not unless their data is uploaded." Khrys pointed out, thinking over the video, and what she knew of digimon. "I didn't see anyone upload Wizardmon's data, he just floated off. Maybe he was reborn in the digital world?"

Renee listened to what Khrys said to her with a sad smile. The girl was a good person, she gave her that. Not without flaws, but still. The fox did recognize these were just attempts of lighting up the situation though. She drank her tea, wiping that smile from her face - the voice of reason was still being quite sarcastic about her in her head, and what was worse, it had a point.
- If that data isn't stuck in barrier between two worlds... - she said without much enthusiasm though. - And besides, when digimon are reborn in the digital world, they have no memory whatsoever of who they were before. Whoever will be reborn will be a whole new different person, and the wizardmon I knew will remain dead. I remember I watched a film once, there prisoners were offered either a death sentence or a complete memory wipe. Guess why... - she added, taking another sip from her cup. Her eyes focused on some dot on the wall for a few moments, before, suddenly, started ... laughing? It was not a good laughter, not at all. A mean one.
- Hnh, and where did the stone-cold killer go, huh? Ah, I think I'm becoming soft. Mushy. Well that can't be happening...

Khrys blinked, and her eyes widened despairingly. What was wrong with this Renamon? Why did she have to be so pessimistic? "I'm not seeing how losing your memory is the same as death. Death is gone. Poof! Nothingness. Never coming back. Losing your memory is just starting anew. Sure, he won't remember you, but he's still alive and one day you could meet him again, and you could make friends with him all over again!" Khrys argued, hoping the Renamon would see it her way and cheer up.
But then she started laughing... Not the good funny haha laugh either. This sounded... dark. Cruel. She didn't like cruel! "Mushy? You aren't mushy!" Khrys said, frowning. "Its okay to be sad! You can't be bottling it all up. You do that, you'll just fill yourself up more and more, and you will be full of mush, and then no matter how hard you try to hide it in your shell..." She said, slipping open a box of ferrero chocolates on the table and after unwrapping it, she held it up, rolling it in her fingers for a moment before suddenly crushing it, the shell crumbling and causing the hazelnut filling to gush out. "You'll end up like this chocolate..." She finished, staring at the crushed chocolate for a moment before sticking it in her mouth and licking off the hazelnut filling that ended up on her fingers.

- Yeah right... - Renee didn't sound too optimistic. Later, some day, somewhere... Too many "some's", "if's" and other uncertainties. Would she even be alive till that day? She highly doubted it. Perhaps it was time to face the truth - wizardmon was gone. Forever. And there was nothing she could do about it. Almost nothing...
- Like this chocolate you say, huh? Perhaps... - she murmured, taking a piece of chocolate, twirling it in her fingers a bit, before suddenly crushing it with such force the filling went splattering in all directions, like a mini choco-bomb. Perhaps not. The blue flames that appeared at her fingers, burning off the stains quite completely. Renee indeed could do something. She could make sure every last frikken evil digimon that appears here dies. Brutally. There would be no mercy. No pity. An all too-familiar ice appeared in her only eye. She stood up from her chair, going to the door.
- We'd be wasting time just sitting around doing nothing. How about we go find ourselves something to kill to cheer me up? - she sounded gleefully creepy.

This Renamon... was impossible! Oh well, maybe it's just too soon... She thought. She just found out about his death after all, and no one with any amount of heart would get over it in an hour. I guess all that can be done is wait! At least, waiting, she thought. But Renamon was acting all creepy still. "Well if it will make you feel better." She said, following Renamon out the door. "I wonder where BlackMonodramon got off to..." She pondered, poking at her digivice as she went.
