Another dawn of war went up above the chess kingdom, as two armies were amassed on the battlefield, ready to clash with each other in another episodic battle of a war that was going on for who knows how long. The two armadas really looked magnificent - walls of spears, shields, and other weapons, standing against one another, gleaming in the light of rising sun... Not many were going to survive this day. The trumpet sounded the advance...
- The call for battle. Forward, men! It's time for war!
----------
That was the very last thing Joan the black pawnchessmon remembered. She remembered she were in the first line, charging at the enemy, who retaliated with the same. Remembered her comrades standing beside her... And then ... there was that blinding light... She thought something nailed her and she died, however, it wasn't so.
The pawnchessmon was ... elsewhere now. Not on the battlefield, but ... elsewhere. She lied on the ground in the park, face in the mud, both shield and spear out of her hands and lying on the ground. The portal showed what was going on there for a little while, being a passage between worlds, and closed as soon as it appeared...
- Ugh... - the small chess soldier moaned quietly, still not very conscious, and tried to get up, but failed, and fell again, face back into the puddle of mud...

He felt the grass crinkle under his paws as he touched down on the ground. His lungs filled in the rich, fresh air that seemed no different than the air he once took in only moments ago...a world ago...
"Hmm...?"
Where was he exactly? He recalled seeing the makings of what might have been a fierce battle. The battle held no interest to him and he didn't feel the particular need to take part of it. It was best to fall back when such things were taking place. However, these days a battle could just as easily be found anywhere at anytime. How mighty their once proud world had fallen...
It was then he saw a sudden flash of light out on the battlefield. The sight of it was a cause for concern, even for someone who didn't take part in the fighting. He remembered shielding his eyes from the brightness even as it traveled his way...
Which brought him to now. It didn't register in the Strabimon's mind that he may not even be in his own world. At least, it didn't right away. But he did realize that he was now standing in the midst of...an urban garden?
His ears twitched when he heard the sounds of someone close by. He stepped closer to the source and found a fellow digimon lying face first in a puddle of mud. They likely had ended up just as he did, but it seemed this one endured the worst of the trip than he did.
"..." He placed a paw on the hull of the Black Pawncheesmon's armor and shook its host gently, trying to stir a reaction from the digimon and learn if they were alright or if they were in far worst condition than they were letting on.

- Ugh... cursed Whites... When I get back on my feet I'm gonna... - the black pawnchessmon sighed out with a very high-pitched and a bit childish/girlish falsetto, as her arm plunged for the spear that was lying on the ground next to her. She was completely sure that it was some sort of a weird attack that hit her, and was still disoriented quite completely. Her vision was blurry, it was ringing in her ears and other senses were just as confused.
Then she felt that somebody shake her, and her eyes widened. All worst ideas jumped into her head in a moment. Just how long was she out? What happened with the army? With the battle? Did they win, or lose? Was this a friendly medic, or an enemy checking for survivors? Joan expected the worst. It was a motto - hope for the best, but expect the worst. And so she did. If this was the enemy, she would not just surrender to them peacefully.
- Kya! - Joan exclaimed as she flipped back on her feet in a weird acobatic stunt, parrying the hand that touched her, even if the strabimon wasn't really do anything bad, and pointing the spearhead at the lupine digimon, even though he was about twice her size, and in much better state than she were. The pawnchessmon was still not quite stable on her two feet, which showed in slight shaking, and she still did not quite figure what was in front of her - she only saw a silhouette.
- I am not afraid of you, you ... whoever you are! - the angry falsetto was heard again, though the picture would have looked quite funny from a third perspective, considering how small the pawnchessmon was compared to the tall strabimon - the tip of her head would barely be at the level of his chest...
