"Oh she is that bad at cooking. I am pretty sure that the CDC issued her an official warning about the last meal she made, which somehow blew up."
It wasn't actually that level of bad, but the neighbor's dog wouldn't eat it and that meant something in this neighborhood. If the dog that ate an expired can of peaches with the can refused your cooking, then you were one pretty bad cook. Kazu had almost fell over that day when his dad had tried to force feed it to the dog, which ended with Kazu's dad being bit three times. There was some serious irony in that story somewhere.
"Even Hagurumon won't go near the kitchen when my mom is cooking, and he doesn't even eat human food."
Hagurumon made a nodding motion in agreement, but the truth was he avoided the kitchen because Kazu's mother had the tendency to kick at him whenever he was around. He couldn't understand what he did that made the woman so angry, but he also didn't want to find out.
"So where is your little friend at today?"

Jeri giggled as she listened to Kazu. She could never tell when he was serious or joking. But he was always good for a laugh, and that was what she needed right now. Laughter was the cure to sadness, or so she had heard at one time from someone. She knew the person who had said this was close to her, but she couldn't think of who it was now? Was her memory slipping or did she just come up with this assumption by herself?
No...I heard it from someone.....
While Jeri struggled to remember who had made the quote, she blinked as she was asked where Gatomon was? The truth was, she didn't even know. The last she had seen the feline, it was at the store and she happened to be upon the roof. Now, she wasn't totally sure where she was. This revelation caused her to panic somewhat as he looked around and shook her head.
"Oh no! I think I lost her again!"
Though just as she was starting to worry, there came the sound of movement from within the large paper bag at her feet. Looking down, she saw the white fur cat picking through the items with an annoyed expression.
"Not one thing of tuna...I swear that family hates fish. Which is odd since that bar smells of it every day..."

Well at least Jeri's laugh told Kazu that he was still funny in one of two ways: verbally or looking. He preferred the first one, but the second one would be accepted if the person looked extremely sad about something. His own personal feelings on how awesome he looked could be put away if it meant making someone else feel better about themselves. It was just the kind of guy he was, so people could just deal with it.
Hagurumon's question had brought up an interesting thought as Jeri took a while to respond to, and when she had it was in a state of worry. This was followed by the sound of a bag being messed with, which caused the floating gear Digimon to look down and take notice of the white cat that was foraging through Jeri's belonging.
"Maybe they use a fish scented cleaning agent that lets them smell fish without having to actually buy fish."
Kazu sometimes wondered where his partner even came up with these ideas like fish-scented soap and what not. It may have something to do with him staying up all night watching those random ads for people with random inventions that only can afford to have their product shown at strange hours of the night.
"Or maybe the cat has got fish on the brain and is smelling things that aren't really there?"
Then there was the possibility that the people who came into the bar worked on a fishing boat, but most of them should go home and shower before heading off into public. It was rather weird to work with fish all day, but it was even more weird to smell like them all day.
"Does that mean people can not smell certain things that others can smell like when your mom tells you that you need to shower and you reply that you smell as fresh as a daisy?"

Hagurumon comment had Jeri laughing once again, shaking her head as she knelt down to pull Gatomon away from the bag and into her arms. After all, she didn't want her parents to have to wonder why there were odd claw marks in the groceries. Holding the feline, the young girl closed her eyes as she then opened them to look at Kazu.
"I think she's just hungry. Though I don't know why, since she pretty much ate my lunch at school today..."
Gatomon grinned as she looked up towards the girl and winked.
"I'm a growing girl...You can't expect me not to want to eat more than three meals..."

Kazu wasn't sure which part of the conversation Jeri was laughing about: the fish scented soap or that Kazu denied any stench that was bad coming from him. There were many despicable male things that Kazu would admit to like leaving the toilet seat up or never needing help from a girl, but him smelling like a garbage dump is where he drew the line of being honest.
"Jeri, I have seen what you consider a lunch, and I think that would only be an appetizer for any normal Digimon. It would be considered a tease to Guilmon though."
Hagurumon listened to what each person was saying and thought of a comment that brought him great concern.
"If Gatomon eats like Guilmon, then wouldn't Jeri need to win what you humans call the lottery to pay for the first month?"

"Hey!"
Jeri smirked as she nudged Kazu gently with her hip, giggling as she looked towards Gatomon. She knew it was true though, her appetite was something compared to a digimon or any of her friends for that matter. The girl always ate light, not because she was worried about her weight or anything, but because that was filling to her. Jeri just happened to be one of those people that could become full from a salad or even three sushi rolls. But Gatomon hungry was quite the challenge in managing. After all, she didn't get full easily.
"I've seen that lizard eat. I'm not that hungry...."

"What do you mean hey? It's not like I said anything inappropriate or something. I only commented that a growing Digimon is going to need more than what a young lady eats in order to become big and strong."
Kazu wondered when Gatomon had seen Guilmon eat anything, but she was Jeri's partner and Jeri did hang out with Takato so it made perfect sense that they popped into Guilmon's hideout when he was eating.
"If you think how much Guilmon eats is impressive, then you should see him what he can do when he buries his food. I have never seen a Digimon dig a miniature tunnel like that before."
Hagurumon was referring to the hole that Guilmon had dug that had been the location for the portal that had taken Kazu and the others to the Digital World the first time. It was still impressive to think that Guilmon had dug such a thing without a drill.

Jeri nodded in agreement, Guilmon had tunnels that went on for miles. Sometimes she wondered just how many routes he had made in his attempt to find hiding places for his snacks? Still, she thought it was cute.
"Just seems out of character? More like a dog..."
Gatomon frowned as she crossed her arms while looking towards the distance. She just couldn't imagine a lizard making holes and hiding food. Was he part dog or something? Maybe he had a few screws loose up in his head? There were so many things about Guilmon that just seemed off. But then, maybe that was just how he was. She didn't argue with the nature of creation, she simply rolled with it.

"From what I have seen on human television, Guilmon appears to be more like a gopher or mole. Dogs only dig in order to escape from fenced in areas. I have yet to see one actually bury a dog bone in the ground as it seems that they prefer to chew them right away."
Kazu was not sure what channels his partner was watching, but he had never noticed any education channels on his current cable/satellite provider so Hagurumon was probably making most of it up of the top of its head. He just shrugged it off as something that he shouldn't worry about in this world. With the subject of Guilmon in mind, Kazu thought Jeri would be the one to ask about it.
"So Jeri, have you seen Takato lately? I've been wondering what the plan is as far as what we are going to do it."

Jeri looked at Kazu with a blank expression, shaking her head in response to the question. She hadn't seen him for quite some time. But she was sure that he was fine. After all, Guilmon was with him. That, and Takato was strong enough to take care of himself. Still, even she worried about him sometimes. But then, there was a lot to worry about.
"No...but...Maybe Rika might know...or maybe Henry?"
Those would be the best people to ask. If Kazu didn't know, then they were the next best bet for information.
