The mist around the theme park settled down some time ago, but a dust cloud was still in the air - a sign of a vicious battle going on. And hell, that would be a huge understatement. Luckily it was night, and there ought to be no one around - for they'd be in for a shocking realization. The things that transpired were good enough to make a fairy-tale.
This fight wasn't going as Larry had planned - he wanted to use his standard hit-and-run tactic - he had good cards to make this possible. The opponent wasn't to bright to fare well against those - a vicious ogremon - all muscle and no brains, this should have been a sync. But the problem came out from his own, and not from the enemy.
The young man noticed something was wrong with Renee for at least a couple of days... She had become ... more violent or something? He couldn't quite explain it. She did enjoy violence before, but took a more practical approach to it, but now ... it seemed more personal than that. She neglected tactics again, and just kept going at the enemy, hammering him into submission, until it is dead, and sometimes even after. Ogremon's club became her weapon of choice ever since. Maybe she wished to improve her close combat techniques? He didn't know...
The ogremon and the renamon were now engaged in a fearsome melee, both wielding scary-looking weapons, wishing to crash each other's sculls. The ogremon's attack were powerful, yet not too fast, while Renee was able to evade and parry them, and came with volleys of her own. Those usually hit, but ogremon could take punishment. At the moment, they were in a lock, ogremon pressing his club against the fox, and the fox standing ground, blocking with both her hands holding her own club.
- Oh for the love of... - Larry sighed out and sliced a card through the digivice. A green power bean, to increase Renee's strength, as if she wasn't strong enough already, holding in melee against a champion, fueled only by her rage and all that. Renee felt the surge of energy coursing through her veins, as she pushed the club back and jumped into the air...
- I'm gonna crack your frikken skull! - she roared with rage that would make a tyrannosaurus pale, and launched a powerful attack with her bone club, aiming at the forehead. Head-on, apply directly to the forehead xD ------------ Cards used:
Name: Green Power Bean Duration: 1 Post Color: Green Effect: Increases the power and strength of a Data-type digimon's attack up one level. (f.e. Rookie Attack =>Champion Attack)

Many quite often labeled digimon of the ogremon family as being idiot savages, but who wasn't like that in the digital world? The Ogremon mostly only wanted to survive and grow stronger to defend their own existence, and the same could be said of pretty much everybody who participated of that game of "to eat or be eaten".
This one in particular was driven not by the selfish desire of gaining strength to become through battle the best of all nor lusted for carnage, but actually fought for his people and all of those he cared for: Prior to being spirited away to the digital world he was actively fighting against the cruel dictatorship of black omnimon and his greatest desire was to become strong enough to destroy that fould monster and bring back freedom to the digital world. Alas, this ogremon's noble goals were fated to die along him as this tamer-partnered fox digimon showed bloodlust not unlike the one of less brilliant ogremons and struck him brutally in the skull with a bone club, it was actually quite ironic how the fox was more of an ogre than the ogre itself.
"I .. can't die here, must find .. partner ... must find ... power!"
It was a miracle he was still alive and with enough strength to stand up despite being tossed away by the brutal power of a powerful blow to the forehead, his head was covered with his own blood and his mental faculties slowly deteriorated, it was to kill or do die and even if he had to kill the human tamer whom he wasn't going to attack, he was ready to throw away his honor code just to continue living on.
He struggled to continue walking using his club as as third leg to support his damaged body and slowly walked towards the human, determined to defeat him and indirectly defeat this horrible fox digimon whom he mistook as an agent of black omnimon that had to be destroyed for the sake of the digital world; she had the attitude, the bloodlust and lack of mercy characteristically of those tyrants and anyone would think she was one of them.
His dreams, his goals ... when he got suddenly drawn into the legendary human world he thought he could find a human partner to become his strength and sympathize with his noble cause, but instead of that he found death at hands of a ruthless berserker that would make any ogremon look like a well mannered gentleman. If only he could live for another day ... if only this fox digimon wasn't so eager to fight and heard about his plight ... but it was too late for regrets, he had to kill to survive ... he had to do it ...

Larry watched the battle with a mix of amazement and horror. Indeed, there was nothing more scary than a berserk Renamon - any threat would pale compare to that, and he'd rather charge the omnimon with a rusty fork rather than face such wrath - she wielded the heavy-looking bone club as if it was a bamboo pole, and was striking with more strength than this giant had, having him on the ropes. What had gone into that girl? What made the fight so personal all of a sudden? He did not know.
A smirk of pity and contempt appeared on his face, when the ogremon slowly tried to reach for him. It was a pitiful sight to see - it wasn't scary, he could easily run away or something like that. Taking the gun out, he aimed to give a mercy shot between the eyes, where the crack in the skull was seen, but before he even could pull the trigger, he felt ... teleporting away, where Renee stood, and she took his place, via Kohenkyo, and was now staring at the wounded ogremon, eyes glowing crimson red, and a vicious smirk coming across her face.
- Going somewhere? - she hissed, before giving out a low, primal growl and launching herself at the enemy once more, indulging in a lightning-fast series of attacks, blocks and parries, aiming at all parts of the body, wishing to break a bone per blow. It was just like she said... there would be no mercy. No pity. Only death. And the ogremon was fighting death incarnate...

The Ogremon could only watch in silence as the Renamon lunged at him and ... what happened wasn't really nice at all, she wasn't simply attacking him, she was brutally destroying him piece by piece. If there was a god in that world, it was a merciful one for the ogremon entered into an irreversible coma due brain damage in the middle of the fox's murderous assault, thus no longer feeling the horrible pain caused by the brutal attack.
Suddenly, several crescent moon-shaped projectiles appeared from the sky, they were unleashed not for attack but for distraction as the five smaller fragments aimed at the limbs of the vulpine digimon to cause minor injuries while a larger one got inserted within the back of the in coma ogremon, finally dealing the critical hit needed to grant him eternal rest.
As for who was the hidden attacker? It was a lunamon formerly known as wizardmon, and behind him there was that one wacky girl with whom together infiltrated into the park in a not so subtle manner by cutting the barbed wire fences covering the least secure part of the park, something that could easily be mistaken as lowly vandalism.
"I could not save him ... only give him a quick death"
The lunamon lamented being too late to save the ogremon from that one tamer and his digimon. The digivice of his partner Mistral proved to be a very useful tool to continue from the shadows his mission to save lost digimons, but at the same time it was the reason why tamers almost always beat him to reaching emerging digimon: they had a built-in radar to detect digimon and in this case by the time he reached the amusement park, another digimon entered and engaged into combat with the spirited away digimon guided by the digivice of its own tamer.
The lack of illumination in the closed park at nighttime made harder than usual to see what was happening there, so the lunamon could hardly see who was the cruel digimon with gray fur that blended with the darkness, creating a natural camouflage, which combined with its lightning-fast movements, made of it an invisible assassin from the distance. Meanwhile, its tamer wasn't as camouflaged as it was and one could see his silhouette, the lunamon guessed he was an adult human, but for further inspection, he had to abandon his distant sniping location and get closer.
"Mistral, I told you that a demon lord was here, but actually I was wrong, there is a bad guy that can be made nice guy if we hurry"
"Bad guys can become good guys with the power of MAAAGIC, let's go Mir!!"
Both of them ran towards the place where an ogremon once stood while the Lunamon nicknamed Mir by his crazy tamer continued shooting crescent moon projectiles at the invisible assassin to prevent it from absorbing the ogremon and let the deceased digimon return to the digital world to be reborn, something that wouldn't happen were his data to be absorbed

Renee was way too busy with beating the living hell out of the ogremon's body to notice just about anything around. Her brain was put on permanent "OFF", giving place to more and more rage, deafening any rational thought - that's how angry she was. Every time she saw a demon like that she remembered that tape recording she saw a few days ago, and wanted to show that the evil digimon don't know two sh*ts about dealing damage and pain. She did. They came here to destroy, but their own destruction was all that awaited them...
- Dei, die, die, you bastard, take this, and that, and some of this, and die again you filthy BASTARD! - her words full of hate were heard, she really didn't see anything in front of her eyes now, the image of the tape strolling in front of them again, and again, and again... She continued to pounder the ogremon even after it died, completely ignoring the hits on her limbs, feeling no pain. And she cared naught about the data disappearing, she continued poundering the asphalt...
- Jesus frikken Christ... - Larry gasped as he watched the picture. The renamon, no, HIS renamon was going nuts. Literally, he wasn't told how to act in this situation - the scientists assured him she was stable enough, despite being the first prototype. She was not allowed to go even more crazy, before irreversible damage would be taken.
- Renee snap out of it! - he called, but to no avail - she did not hear him. The young man quickly approached the berserk fox from behind, as she was still twirling her club around herself in a form of a wicked barrier. Dodging a blow that went above his head by sheer luck, he managed to get inside of her weapon's guard, grabbing both her arms from behind, in an attempt to hold her off. The kick at the back of her knee joint was supposed to make her lose balance, and it actually worked. For once.
- What are you CRAZY?! - Larry yelled in her ear, and that shout finally managed to bring Renee back to this world. The red evil glow of her eye disappeared the same moment, her glare replaced by a rather confused one, as Larry dragged her off from the place where mutilated Ogremon once was, now disappearing into data. - Huh? - she asked in confusion, not understanding what was going on.
Larry put Renee down, making her sit on the ground, and slapped her face a couple of times, repeating - Hello? Earth to Renee! after each slap, until the pain finally brought her around. She looked at the place which was once a battlefield. Complete mess, craters and smashed things everywhere, and all was her doing. But she couldn't help herself, really, she was so angry.
- Sorry... - she apologized, looking at the ground, afraid to face her tamer's glare, and for good reason, Larry wasn't done yet.
- Yeah you should be sorry. What the hell is wrong with you girl? Four days in a row you're acting like a complete nutcase, to say the least. You neglect stealthy approach, cautiousness and my orders. And now you almost bashed me with that club! Maybe I do something wrong? If I suck as a commander, just go ahead and say it! They'll get you a new one! - he yelled at her, as she covered her head with her paws, ducking even lower and lower, approaching the ground. - I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry, no it's not that, it won't happen again... - she kept muttering like a mantra, until Larry finally cooled off...
- Pfff... Hey calm down, I didn't mean it like that... Sorry I yelled at you like I did... - he finally sighed out, kneeling to be on the same level. - I know it should be personal, they invade our homes and all, but it must not be THAT personal. I'm only worried for your own safety, you can't control yourself when consumed by that rage... - he ended his words with a warm smile, and put a hand on her shoulder, when suddenly heard someone coming...

Apparently the situation solved itself without need for further intervention, the black figure of which only could be barely seen its silhouette was restrained by its human partner and the ogremon data safely floated away, finally vanishing as hopefully it found its way to the digital world to be reborn.
"There is no further need for us to be here, let's return to your home"
The Lunamon wanted to depart before the tamer and digimon could realize from where the surprise attack came and avoid a battle, but his human partner had other ideas of her own ...
"Stop right there evildoers, the magician of love is here to punish you until you become nice people!"
There goes their sole chance to avoid an encounter, Mistral loudly announced herself as she walked towards the "evildoers" while she activated the lights of her magical wand, which was actually one of those popular otaku products that she bought while she was still normal. Needless to say, that was quite facepalm worthy, but the lunamon rather than facepalming, was fast to move in front of his tamer to defend her from any harm. The enemy most likely already noticed the presence of another digimon given his previous attack and the fact a digivice always detected the presence of other digimons, so attempting to deceive them and make Mistral look simply like a non-tamer intruder was futile and would only endanger her.
Being that close to the "enemy" finally made both of them realize who were the ones who killed that ogremon: Mistral remembered that one guy from the coffee shop and Lunamon realized that the gray colored digimon was actually an eyepatch wearing renamon. He would've hoped it was another renamon, but the eyepatch strongly hinted at her being the same digimon he met in the past.
"You are the one I met in the guild!"
Mistral pointed at him with her flashy wand and the extra light revealed that he was still wearing the same clothes from the previous time, was he so dirty as to use the same thing all the time? As for Mistral, she had dozens of costumes identical to the ones she always wore, so she always had clean clothes.
Meanwhile, the lunamon looked in silence at the silver renamon, he was suspicious regarding her activities from the very beginning and now he knew from where she got so much information and goods: Her human partner had to be somebody with great status in the human society and most likely was related with the armed humans that killed digimons.
He who once was a wizardmon might be now a cute and small rookie digimon, but his intelligence and sharp detective-like mind were still as good as before, so he decided to conceal his identity as the sagacious wizardmon the renamon once knew and obtain as much information as possible from this encounter; he had to discover if she really was a good digimon or all she did in the bar was only a facade and she was actually using them for unknown goals only she and her partner knew. No matter what she said, nothing would justify the blood thirst she showed when she brutally maimed that ogremon, such brutality greatly surpassed the one shown by the fangmon that almost killed him and nothing could justify such malice towards an enemy that could barely keep himself alive

Oh for the love of... - Larry thought and facepalmed when he saw a radiating glowy magic staff toy and heard an all too familiar shout - out. He never thought he'd run into that wacko again. Well, not really. They were tamers, so the possibility was omnipresent. And the possibilities played out, it seemed. Unfortunately. He wasn't happy to see that crazy girl again.
- Yeah. And you're the girl that ruined my only magic coat. - Larry was being sarcastic. However, he was glad to see that his add to the database wasn't a fraud - she really was a tamer, and that was really a digimon. They're ought to be put on watch. - How goes demon-hunting? -he asked with a bit of a laugh, never taking her imaginary shticks seriously.
- You know them? - Renee asked, looking at the duo without hiding sorrow in her only eye, and a frown on her face. She remembered them too - the girl was on that tape Khrys showed her a few days ago. Though there was nothing renamon would like to ask her about - she saw everything with her own two eyes. Right now she just wanted to go away somewhere.
- Yeah, met that one in a coffee shop, she ruined my dat... oh what now? - Larry groaned as he heard his radio flickering to life again. - Go ahead, TACCOM. Yes, the enemy was destroyed. No, no civilian casualties. Yes, everything is all right. NO I'M NOT NERVOUS! Over. - he yelled the last proposition in the speaker before switching it off. - You owe me one. I'll keep the incident a secret, but it better not happen again. Think "defending homeland" not "wanton slaughter", alright? - he asked.
- Thanks, Larry... - Renee tossed over her shoulder, leaving the tamer to converse with the two alone, herself approached the dents she had made in the ground earlier. - Bastard... - she hissed quietly, her arm clenching fist. It still was personal...

Destiny was certainly something strange and impossible to understand, both tamers knew each other, both digimon knew each other. Could it be that their fates were intertwined and somehow they were destined to together do something incredible in the future? The lunamon wondered and wondered, he certainly had the feeling back in the bar that the silver renamon might become an important player in future events, but he never figured that he himself and both of their tamers would be somehow connected to this unseen future as well. He could only vaguely guess what might happen in the future, but until then all we could do was to obtain as much information as possible. He waited until the silver renamon was far enough to make hard even for a digimon with great sense of hearing like her to listen to what he was going to say and spoke with her human parter.
"Mister Larry, I can understand why your contractors ordered you to slay digimon given that many of them were aggressive or territorial enough to attack as soon they emerged into this world strange to them, but at least have in mind that both digimon and humans alike are capable of both evil and good. Never get into battle thinking all digimon is an evil enemy for someday a digimon who thinks all humans are an evil enemy might appear and show you what it feels to be hunted down. Even if your job is to kill digimon and you do it only for your payment, you might live to regret of your lifestyle."
This "Larry" person, what exactly was he? From the communication that man had with another via a cellphone, it was obvious this man fought against digimon only because that was his job, and it seemed that his contractors strongly believed all digimon wanted the damnation of humans given the mention of human casualties. It was more than clear with this piece of evidence that silver renamon knew about an organization that hunted digimon because SHE was part of them.
"Wooow Mir, you always talk about complex things ... is that man good or bad?"
"Neither good nor bad, he simply does what he is paid to do .. or at least that's what I believe."
Thank goodness the silver renamon was away. Knowing her sharp intellect, she could've noticed the lunamon's manners and speech were akin to the wizardmon and without her in the way, lunamon was free to speak seriously with the man who was her partner.
"I believe that a battle between us would be pointless given that you only seem to go after tamer-less digimon, sir, but I advice you to stop doing it. Digimon are living beings like you, with emotions and the desire to live, and we might end up becoming enemies if you insist in hunting down more of them. For you they might be only your source of income, but for me they are beings with the right to live and be given a home. What would you feel if a digimon were paid to kill humans and did it without remorse because they weren't digimon, and therefore it was acceptable to kill them?"
The man seemed to be smart enough to understand his point of view, but more likely he was going to find a justification for his actions. It was simply natural for every living being to fear the unknown and to do even the worst kind of job to bring food to the table, so it wasn't unreasonable that a man paid to kill digimon felt justified to destroy lives alien to him, after all they were not humans and he would never regret taking their lives.
Meanwhile, Mistral simply looked confused at the man and the lunamon, this kind of chatting was beyond her understanding but she knew that something interesting was happening.

Saying that Larry was surprised to hear such words from a digimon would be a huge understatement. He used to deal only with humans, digimon tagging along as sorts of pet companions, never really entangling in their master's business, but here it seemed to be the other way around. Though, he probably shouldn't be too surprised, the girl was obviously delusional, thus easily controlled. A long and somewhat boring tirade came around, trying to press on his conscience. Didn't work too well.
- Well what do you know, a bunny ears lawyer. Literally. Never saw that coming. Are you trying to press on my feelings or something? - he said with a bit of a laugh, covering his mouth with a hand to suppress it. Now wasn't time to be laughing. His face changed immediately to deadpan serious. This was a challenge of sorts, he had to reply. Everybody had something they stood for, he was no exception.
- I thought it was a job at first, but now it is more than that. A lot more. Let me tell you when it started to be personal for me. One day I and Renee were called upon an emergency. Someone was blasting a famous religious shrine to bits in the middle of the night. A holy ground for crying out loud! Eventually we came around, only to see that it was not some wile thug like the one we destroyed moments ago, but it was a digimon angel. A flipping angel! Which came to "purge this world of sin", and by sin he viewed us. That son of a whore almost killed me, took out my partner's eye and blasted one opf the helicopters that came to aid us. Pilot killed. And now you're here telling me of good and evil. When even ANGELS want us dead, don't think we're gonna roll over and die. No. Way. - he sighed out angrily. He did grew to feel a bit of remorse for innocent digimon caught in the crossfire, but this was a casualty of war, he won't risk the operation and not kill 10 obviously evil digimon if one of them proved to be innocent at heart. Then that warning of becoming enemies came. That was laughable.
- Are you threatening me? Watch your step. You're alone, we are legion. For we are many. And if one falls, ten more will come to take his place. - he gave out a grim warning of his own. No, they are Hypnos, humanity's shield, they would not be threatened by the likes of him. And Larry made it clear enough.
- Imagine living in a home, which is suddenly invaded by a horde of bruisers that came out of nowhere. You struggle to defend it, don't you? 9 of them are filled with malice, one is here by some unfortunate accident. In amidst of fighting, you club all ten, and you don't sort out which one is good and which one is bad. Same here. We attack using element of surprise. If we sacrifice it for a chance of asking: "Are you good digimon or bad digimon?", our death tolls would skyrocket. And we won't trade human lives for digimon, no offense. This is OUR home. We did not invite you here.

"Bunny ears lawyer? I remember that from a site known as TV tropes after using my partner's computer terminal. The human information network is truly filled with many interesting bits of information. If that makes of me a bunny ears lawyer, then your knowledge regarding tropes makes of you a genre savvy person."
That man surely loved his tropes, the lunamon had been using Mistral's computer to inspect the world wide network humans used for both serious work and entertainment and found interesting how humans just for a hobby categorized the different kind of behavior and speech style to stereotype everything. It was pretty obvious that the current peaceful times they lived let them use otherwise better fitted for serious matters technology for entertaining.
The man then spoke about an angel type digimon wanting to cleanse the human world from sinners and how his group had more than enough people to retaliate tenfold anything the lunamon might do, such way of thinking was fitting for for people who only solved problems through violence and showed just how biased was this man against digimon.
"True, your organization might be composed of many, but you only have a single life. Once you die it's all over even if others take your place, just like what happened to your deceased copter pilot workmate. He is now dead and everybody who cared for him will have to forever carry with them the pain of having lost him. If he was just a single digit rather than a person for you, then why your feel angry for his death? after all there's more like him to replace him because he was in your own words just one from a legion"
If he thought about himself as just a single digit and not as a person, that man was sick, the lunamon knew well the pain of losing loved ones and found sick that an organization that was supposed to be guardian of mankind saw its members as mere numbers that can be easily replaced by others.
"We digimon take many shapes, and having an angelical one does not make us good nor looking like a devil makes us evil. In the past I used to look like what in your popular culture would be deemed a "wicked dark magician", but I always worked for the peace of the digital world just like how you work for the peace of the human world, although your methods are well intentioned but extremist "
If he were as genre savvy as he seemed to be, he should know better not to judge a book for the cover, after all the lunamon himself was a proof of that, looking like a creature to be petted and cared for but being intelligent and smarter than your average human and digimon.
"If you have so many members in your organization, why do you engage into solo missions? If more of you arrived to the locations were digimon emerged, the possibility of avoiding casualties would greatly diminish and the chances for a more diplomatic approach would increase, and I know well the terrific power of several humans carrying man-made weapons, a single squad of them and their firearms completely destroyed a powerful fangmon. If something, we digimon have reasons to fear your great technology used for death as your tools of death are intimidating enough to make even the most hotheaded digimon consider speaking rather than fighting. And regarding your comparison, we are not invaders but victims, no one of us know what or why we appear in the human world. In the confusion of losing our home some might become even more aggressive than usual, but be sure most of us wish to bring no harm to the humans"
He paused and then looked at the silver renamon from the distance, he pitied her for having such a close minded man who worked for an even more close minded organization and hoped that either both of them stopped this madness or at least the silver renamon discovered the true meaning of her life, surely her fate wasn't to be used as a tool for genocide.
"What does the silver renamon means to you, is she your partner or just a replaceable tool? I have the feeling that she's awakening to her true goal in life and it's up to you to help her to achieve it or continue using her as a tool for murder. For the way she acts one would think that she was either created by humans or enslaved since birth to become your weapons."
Even the lunamon himself knew that he was talking too much and that most likely the human thought he was all talk no action, but that was how he was, always trying to use the power of the word to solve problems before using violence.
"Even other digimon think I'm too idealistic, but that's how I'm just like you too fight for your own ideas in your own way. I can see from where the silver renamon got her personality, she is as cynical as you, thinking the end justifies the means"
He threw a little clue that hinted at him knowing the silver renamon and it was up to the man to further investigate it or simply ignore what the talkative digimon said.
"Ahh, that's too hard to understand, if we are in the same side we should team up and defeat the REAL baddies."
The Magician of love got bored for the long chat and wanted to do something, so just because she can slashed a "fly away" card to give the Lunamon wings, she found them cute and would make things less boring XD
Fly card (pointlessly wasted XD) turn 1 out of 5
